Tempest in a Teapot
Tempest in a Teapot | Amanda Cooper
5 posts | 4 read | 11 to read
Tucked away in the Finger Lakes region of Upstate New York is the charming town of Gracious Grove, where time moves slowly, gossip spreads quickly, and the scones are to die for When her fashionable Manhattan restaurant goes under, Sophie Taylor retreats to her grandmothers cozy shop, Auntie Roses Victorian Teahouse, where serenity is steeped to perfection in one of her many antique teapots. The last thing Sophie expects is a bustling calendar of teahouse events, like her old friend Cissy Petersons upcoming bridal shower. Not everyone is pleased with the bride-to-bes choice of venuelike Cissys grandmother, who owns a competing establishment, La Belle Epoque, and has held a long-simmering grudge against Rose for stealing her beau sixty years ago. Tensions reach a boiling point when Cissys fiancs mother dies while sampling scones at La Belle Epoque. Now, to help her friend, Sophie will have to bag a killer before more of the guest list becomes a hit list

The other half of the #cozymystery display. Hopefully you can better make out the covers and titles. Have you read any of these, do any seem TBR-worthy for you? #LitsyLovesLibraries

Kshakal This makes my heart happy! I love me a cozy! 7y
azulaco I‘ve read another book by Joanne Fluke and enjoyed it. I haven‘t read any of the others. It looks like a good collection! 7y

Pickpick

This book has phenomenally well-developed characters, which is rare in the first book of a cozy mystery series. It switches perspectives between the main protagonist and a secondary character--not a lot, but enough to have a really interesting effect. And it's all about a tea parlor and tea and fuzzy cats so I loooooooved it a ton ✨

Laalaleighh I still don't think I understand what a cozy is haha. But this sounds good! 8y
queerbookreader @Laalaleighh A cozy mystery novel is basically a sub genre of mysteries. They're almost always set with female protagonists, aren't super gory/suspenseful, and feature some subject (like this one is about a tea pot collector and her grandmother's tea parlor). There's always a specific subject like that. And a pet. At least one. And a steamy romantic figure. So they're lighter mysteries to read and are only partially about the mysteries 8y
queerbookreader @Laalaleighh DOES THAT MAKE SENSE did I explain it okay 8y
Laalaleighh Oooh that sounds right up my alley! I'm not into gory. I should look into these! 8y
queerbookreader @Laalaleighh Another informal way I refer to them are trashy paperback mysteries bcz that's also essentially what they are. Addictive junk food reads. There's a series out there for every interest (I also have a crocheting series, bookshop series, and bakery series in the stack of them on my floor rn. Like really tons of hobbies and foods and interests under the sun) 8y
queerbookreader @Laalaleighh Awesome!! Yeah my anxiety makes it way impossible for me to read legit gritty mysteries so these are just my speed. I think we're friends on good reads so check out my cozy mysteries shelf on there and see if any series sounds interesting!! And I'm here for recs 8y
queerbookreader @Dorianna Yay! This latest binge of mine I got at the library. I just plopped myself on the floor and picked out first in series from A-H 📚 tag me in any posts you make about them, I'd love to see what you're reading! 8y
Laalaleighh @lemonlime799 will do! Feel free to make recommendations anytime!! 8y
Dorianna @lemonlime799 Will do! I'll probably start on the cozies in mid-late March. I have some other library books that I have to finish and return first. 8y
melbeautyandbooks @lemonlime799 @Dorianna @Laalaleighh @LauraBrook @kspenmoll I posted this yesteday- Do you ever wish you could find a cozy set in a certain state? Or about fishing, fashion, tea, or some other theme? Heard about one and can't remember the title or author?

Then I have found the site for you! It's all about cozies and lists them by state, by theme, and more.
