This was my first Rachel Caine, and I wanted to like it more. The intro and ending both felt kinda rushed (whoa, ok, we‘re already diving into the main plot without a lot of buildup; and then wait - the primary baddie is just out of the picture? Ok, that buildup was bigger than the resolution). I have the other two books and plan to read them, but I‘m in no real rush. #seriesread2021

MoonWitch94 Don‘t judge her work on this one. I love her Stillhouse Lake series but hated this one! 3y
ravenlee @MoonWitch94 I didn‘t hate it, and in theory it really works; just not in practice. I have the other two already so I‘ll try them; I also have the first four of the Stillhouse Lake series so I can give those a try, too. I try not to judge authors on one book/series. I love Ilona Andrews and will read anything they write - except I couldn‘t stand the Edge book I read. Anybody can have a bad book! (edited) 3y
MoonWitch94 Yes, agreed! Anyone can have a bad book. Hope you like Stillhouse Lake! 3y

After finishing #Darkdawn last night (review for the #nevernightchronicles will be up tomorrow) my #spinthewheel app decided I should go back to my teen years where my adoration of #rachelcaine shaped who I became today.
Now, I've read the #morganvillevampires , #weatherwardenseries and the first two books of #stillhouselake
But I have never read #redletterdays or #revivalist series. So let's begin on #workingstiff
#exciting 😍

Let me start by saying that I LOVE Rachel Caine's writing. Unfortunately, I did not love this one. The story just didn't capture me the way the rest of her writing does. There only ended up being three novels in this series so I have to wonder if my opinion was shared.
