This was a short, controversial thought experiment which I found fascinating. It splits Jesus Christ into two people - one figure preaching kindness and loving your neighbour, one concerned with telling the best origin story to found a church on. I‘ve seen it called too ‘on the nose‘ which might be fair, but it made me think and was sensitively thought out I think.

Excited to keep churning through my kindle back catalogue with this month‘s #bookspin and I think this one is a perfect illustration of why this is such a good challenge - I‘ve had it sitting round for ages, I know it looks really good and I‘ll enjoy it, it‘s a quick read, but I just never get to it. It feels like wasted money when books sit there unread so reading through my tbr makes me feel amazing

Very interesting.

I *really* wanted to like this more than I did. An interesting idea of separating Jesus and Christ into two brothers but a tedious, surprisingly placid parable beyond that. I expected a bit more bite. Pullman's narration of the audio was the most redeeming quality.

This is a very interesting take on the story of Jesus. I think it makes a good point between the difference of what the bible teaches and how some religious people have used Jesus for their own agendas. I'm not a Christian myself but still found it very interesting.

Perhaps a bit controversial, but this installment in the Canongate Myth Series reimagines the New Testament story as though the figure named Jesus Christ was actually two separate people. Jesus was a moral and upstanding person, while his brother Christ was calculating and interested only in starting a powerful religion. It's an interesting tale, whatever your religious preference.
