Starting off 2026 with a 2 ⭐️ book! The premise is good, Alexis is taken to the island of Crete and soon becomes put into the crucible to become a Spartan. Started off thinking she would become a strong female only to read through pages and pages of the same. The “wedding kiss”…you have got to be kidding me. Girls this is not a strong retelling of what could have been great. Even in this futuristic mythological world, men dominate. 😣

Got this book 3 years ago but only starting it now… some books just need to be read at the right time. Right?
I‘m pleasantly surprised by how much I‘m enjoying this retelling Norse Mythology of Angrboda, the witch, the lover of Lokis and the mother of three legendary “monsters”. I cannot stop reading it… hopefully will enjoy it til the end :)

Finally, FINALLY starting the most popular stand-alone by one of my favorite authors ever! I can't believe it took me this long to start it, but I am now! This is going hand-in-hand with my New Year's resolution to stop following my lists to the letter and let out my inner mood reader.

⭐️⭐️

“Spinning Silver” was a big book that occasionally felt like a chore to read. The book is fragmented into so many different character‘s perspectives that it felt a bit unorganized. I also felt like only one of the two storylines/couples had an actual ending and left it feeling a bit unsatisfactory.

I can see why I originally requested this book. It's steeped in fairytales and magic, but after reading it...I felt it was lacking. Both characters felt superficial, esp our main Rose. I was more entertained during the flashbacks, meanwhile the present timeline was tragic for (as we come to learn) no reason except self-pity. The antagonist problem was also solved in like...10 pages so really, I'd pass. Luckily, it was a short read lol #fantasy

October 2025 Book#5

I like this retelling of Beauty and the Beast but love it. But I like to read retellings from my favorite fairytale. 3⭐️

I did not expect to love Psyche and Eros as much as I loved Cassandra and Apollo, but here we are. What a perfect start to 2026! Like the others in this series, it‘s very high heat, and consent is done beautifully. I‘m enjoying the soap opera that is Robert‘s Olympus. I think it‘s a series best read in order. It‘s easy to get lost in the political maneuvering and the who‘s who now of it all. Audio narration is excellent, too.

Welp, my first book of 2026 is a bail. 😂

Tried this one for #authoramonth, but this genre is just not for me. I do, however, have one of their graphic novels under the name Ursula Vernon, so we'll see how that goes!

@Soubhiville

Soubhiville Some of her others are more fantasy and less horror, you might like those better. 2d
ferskner You might like her fairy tale retellings better - there's darkness, but not nearly as much as this series. Maybe Nettle & Bone? 2d
