Themes: Creative Prequel to ‘A Christmas Carol‘, Excellent writing, Literary-vibe
I saw someone else say that after finishing this you could pick up Charles Dickens‘ ‘A Christmas Carol‘ and immediately continue, and I agree! Clinch‘s writing style is so easy to read and get lost in 1800‘s London. I loved how he portrayed Jacob Marley, and I do think this is what could‘ve happened to make Scrooge the way he is. I have no critiques!

Sorry for bad quality. Taking pictures at 5am isn't the best idea 😅
But anyways - I finally get to my next round of #BookishMonopoly 👏 I landed on Favorite Author and immediately knew that it's going to be the newest book (in German translation at least) by Natasha Pulley. Just didn't get around to start it until now.

I‘m catching up on #JaneAustenThenAndNow
This version of Emma set in NYC was pleasant enough. Reader beware if you don‘t like open door it starts off very PG but the last quarter was fairly X 😂 A whole other side of Knightley.

#FridayHappyReadingHour is here 🤩🥳 Enjoying a 7&7 along with the tagged book. No snacks but dinner is crockpot orange chicken so we‘ll be eating shortly 😋
Feel free to use the hashtag to play along with what you‘re reading, drinking and snacking on 🤗

I‘m really excited about my #AuldLangSpine list from @julesG ! There was just one book I had already read & loved (AWGTMI ⭐️) & a few on my TBR but several new to me titles, which I always love!
Pictured are are the first 6 I‘m starting with, beginning with the tagged book I was already planning on reading in January for #AuthorAMonth & I Know How This Ends because I loved Cassandra in Reverse.
Mahalo @monalyisha for another great match!

When you wake up in the morning and the social media algorithm is absolutely clocking you. 🤣 Who else here has an embarrassing dalliance with this book in their past? #ItsJustFanFic #IWas13OKAY #ButIReReadItToThisDay

I‘m joining all the fun things late!
#10BeforetheEnd
#BookspinBingo (I‘m going to use every book in the picture 2x, my Jolabokaflod gift & books in progress for the last row. ☺️)
I think I signed up for #MidWinterSolace too!
Just trying to finish all the challenges before the end of the year! Last year I read 7 books in December. 🤞🏼
Thank you

This gothic novel is beautifully written. Loosely based on the Island of Dr. Moreau, we once again follow the Thaumas sisters as the youngest Verity, takes a leap, and goes on a daring and twisted adventure.
Absolutely horrifyingly beautiful.

This is told as a fairytale, a retelling (apparently) of Bluebeard which I was unfamiliar with prior. I loved the way this played with the fairytale genre and ways we tell stories to circumvent reality, often even to ourselves. But ultimately, the narrator tells us: “The people are us, the time is always.” Side: didn‘t I just read this somewhere on Litsy? Such a perfect line. I‘m not sure I grasped all this was doing but I had fun trying. #ToB26
