Great story, follow your dreams and be open to opportunities as they come up that might be presented in a slightly different course than originally thought.

I am glad I found a female pilot story. I need to find some more!
I am about 3/4 through. I am not entirely sure how I feel about this book... but it is nice to read about another female pilots experience.
I thought this would be dry and boring, but it‘s not! The story is fascinating and compelling, from the author‘s childhood dreams of flying like Han Solo, through the trials and tribulations of pilot training, to wartime tours and beyond.

1. Tagged book is one of several I‘m currently reading.
2. Capitals advanced in the playoffs! ...and promptly lost the first game in round two.
3. Not formally but will try to read a lot tonight and tomorrow.
4. Why isn‘t George R.R. Martin on Twitter? Because he‘d kill all 120 characters! (He‘d probably kill 240 now that he can.)
5. 😆👍🏻😆👍🏻

I love memoirs. I‘d argue this is a subgenre of military memoir. They have a different language and rhythm. It‘s a candid story of sacrifice, war, and how women navigate the military.
The author is a fellow NAL @BerkleyPub @penguinrandomhouse author and the art for her book was done by the same woman who designed the jacket for my own Chasing Portraits. A distant, but fun connection.
Hold on tight for this gripping and enlightening biography. MJ Hegar followed her heart, and has done an astounding job at telling her story of her experiences. Her integrity and perseverance was front and center in her service to our country despite the many hurdles she had to overcome. Her writing is engaging, and her rescue stories are breathtaking. https://lharvey250.tumblr.com/post/169387496449/shoot-like-a-girl-one-womans-dra...
We sometimes call athletes "warriors". They're not. We sometimes call celebrities, "heroes". They're not. MJ Hegar is a hero, and a warrior. This was an outstanding book. I want to thank anyone that has served this country. You are the warriors and the heroes.
Tim: "It's the story of a Major in the US Air Force who has always faced discrimination because she is a woman. She was always told she wouldn't do well in battle and couldn't fly as well as a man. When I heard this I thought, it's 2017, no freaking way. I didn't think it was possible that you could tell a woman she couldn't do something because of gender stereotypes. That surprised me – but I was also really surprised by the election." #newyork
