Review: Kitten's First Full Moon by Kevin Henkes, 2004, is a Caldecott Winner about a kitten who thinks the moon is a bowl of milk. It has little text and large type, with luminescent pictures that bring it to life.
Blurb: I would use this in my classroom as a read aloud with children. Especially if children in the room had expressed interest in cats!
Quote: “still, there was the little bowl of milk, just waiting“
It was kitten's first full moon. When she saw it, she thought, there's a little bowl of milk in the sky, and she wanted it.

It is a really cute book about a silly little kitten that thinks the moon is a bowl of milk and I did enjoy it, but best picture book for the whole year seems not quite right to me.

The book is also very interactive and has a little bit of a rhythm to it. My favorite line is “What a night!“ I liked this line because the kitten finally gets what it was looking for at the end.
