If you have an interest in how our government has become so entrenched in our economy and eroded our private rights, this is your book. It is eye opening to see how they've done it and how so many went along.

The title of lunatic farmer is one Mr. Salatin wears proudly. This book lays out his philosophy of farming. In hip language, he is old-school. His ways, though modernized, hearken to the days before modern fees lots and industrial farms. It's following nature's patterns. I enjoyed this book immensely. The only nit-pick is that it could use some pro editing. That is easily ignored. Excellent and fun read.

An excellent portrayal of what true masculinity is and the art of "living free and dying well." This reminds me of Eldredge's Wild At Heart but grittier coming from a former Ranger. For you men who seek to overcome the perverted view of masculinity prevalent in this society, this is the book.

A great introduction into a rapidly expanding field of research and application. Who knew that plants NEEDED bacteria, fungi, nematodes, and protozoa to thrive? Time to set aside all the dangerous chemicals and team up with the soil food web. Nobody ever fertilized an old growth forest.s

An excellent resource on pursuing true organic ways. There is information that goes beyond the needs of a home gardener but sparks ideas on how to do it better. The soil blocking and transplanting chapters are worth the book price. If you garden, put this on your shelf.

Took me just over 4 months to read. It was worth every moment. I never once thought of stopping. Washington is definitely presented in a manner worthy of his place in history. He was a man driven by principle and quite fallible as a human. This is also an excellent study in leadership. Get it.

The title intrigued me. I heard about this book from Sue Becker of Bread Beckers. I already follow the dietary laws of the Scriptures, but it was good to see the medical proof showing the toxicity of "unclean" meats. Eating food as close to its natural state is vital. As a gardener, I found this statement to be an answer to a prayer: " Working and sweating to raise a garden.....is worth your effort." Informative and worth your time.

When one steps back and understands the Jewishness of Yeshua (Jesus) and his culture, the words He spoke take on a different level of meaning. We cannot separate Him from the Torah and Jewish 2nd temple Judaism. This book shows Him in that light and brings new insight on His teachings. New in the fact that it places them in proper historical and cultural context. An excellent and challenging read.

ManyWordsLater Tell me more 9mo
BookDadGirlDad @ManyWordsLater There has been a great separation of Jesus from the Hebraic roots of the faith. Modern Christianity disregards the cultural and religious context of 2nd Temple Judaism. This, what we have is a Hellenized faith that disregards the foundation Jesus taught 9mo

I want to feel bummed. 2 years in a row I haven't met my challenge. Considering the quality of books I read, I am happy with what I did read. Of course, I spent a lot of time tending my garden. So, all is not terrible. My favorite read this year was Ann Raynd's "Atlas Shrugged". What about you?

I wish I had read this sooner.

I give it 4 stars only because it seemed to be a bit overwritten. For me, much of the information could have been summarized instead of fleshed out as deeply as it was.

We are in the 4th turning. Much of what the authors say is possible is proving prophetic. It's scary.

Worth reading.

Many told me this was a sad, dark, and a bleak book. I won't disagree. I also would agree with author Ryan Holiday who calls it the greatest parenting book ever written. That is what struck me deeply. This was a book about fighting for your children. It is about undying love and the strength of the human spirit. McCarthy lights up his dark world with the brightness of love. Excellent read.

I initially thought that this book left me wanting more out of it. I realized that the more I wanted would only be found in me applying the principles in the book. I forgot that philosophy, moreover Stoicism, involves personal responsibilities and action. I can control me and nothing else. I've been given the principles and examples. The rest is up to me. Excellent read.
