History is cyclical. This explains the cycle. Looking forward to this.

Many told me this was a sad, dark, and a bleak book. I won't disagree. I also would agree with author Ryan Holiday who calls it the greatest parenting book ever written. That is what struck me deeply. This was a book about fighting for your children. It is about undying love and the strength of the human spirit. McCarthy lights up his dark world with the brightness of love. Excellent read.
I've been warned this book is a must read but will be hard. I look forward to a book that moves me to my soul. Let's see.
I initially thought that this book left me wanting more out of it. I realized that the more I wanted would only be found in me applying the principles in the book. I forgot that philosophy, moreover Stoicism, involves personal responsibilities and action. I can control me and nothing else. I've been given the principles and examples. The rest is up to me. Excellent read.
I subscribe to The Daily Stoic YouTube channel and his newsletter. Stoked to read this.
In this world where children are being bombarded with sex, perverse ideologies, and absent fathers, this book is a cry from the walls for dads to step up and in. We have to engage. We are (outside of the heavenly Father) the role model for their future husbands. We have a direct effect on the course of their life. Be there. Fight for your daughter. Great resource for any dad.
I watched the movie on PureFlix. I cried. I have 3 girls. I'll take all the help I can get!
I can't even begin to review this book. This one has left me in awe of Shackleton and his men. The grit and determination they had to survive and get back home approaches superhuman. No, it goes beyond superhuman. This is a book for the ages. Excellently written using historical documents, crew diaries, and interviews. Stop what you are reading and read this.
I finally decided what to read next. I had 10 choices. Narrowed it to 3. This one kept calling. Ya just have to listen to those inklings.
This was definitely one of the best classics I've read. I'm trying to determine what and how I feel about the story. It definitely impacted me. My mind is turning it over and over. Tragedy of course. Misguided love. Depravity of human nature. Triumph of the soul. All these things. 3 words: I loved it. Read it
Classic. What more needs said? Second time with this one. Let's see how it impacts me at this point in my life. Books like to do that. The words stay the same but our view changes.
Yes. To summarize the book in one quote, "....but in the heart of every man is a desperate desire for a battle to fight, an adventure to live, and a beauty to rescue." I couldn't agree more. This is my second time through this book. It hit home this time through in ways it didn't the first time. Men, read this.
I've read this before. I think it will be different this time. Real men are needed at this point in history. Men with character and heart.
I've always thought philosophy was more out of reach for the common man. All theory and no substance. Then, along came stoicism and proved me wrong. Meditations is about living your life as you should. It's about doing. My favorite quote: You could leave life right now. Let that determine what you do and say and think. Read this book. I'll be reading it again...soon.
A bit of Stoicism. Should be... interesting.
A short, hard hitting book of motivation to do the work. We all battle "Resistance". Our job, no matter what endeavors, is to do the work. It's a battle. Our biggest fear is the fear of success. That hit me. This is a book for the ages. Read it.
Because sometimes you need someone to help you get moving, stay moving, and cross the finish line.
This book is exactly what it says. Inside are 21 actionable steps anyone can take to get done what needs to be done. There is a lot of value contained within this short book. Another one that should be read often. I've started a few of the ideas outlined. Get it and eat that frog!!
This intrigues me. I need "time management" in my busy life. This looks to be a book of actionable steps, not theory.
Rory Vaden takes "time management" one step further into time MULTIPLICATION. It is about creating margin in our lives through doing the significant tasks and giving ourselves permission to do the things that matter. Although written from a mainly business standpoint, the final parges drive home that this is also easily applicable to our lives. Excellent and profound.
Here's to managing time and priorities
An excellent guide to YouTube from two creators with over 2 decades of experience combined. This book will jump start any intention of starting a channel you may have. It will show you the ins and outs, help discover your why, and give the tools and desire to start a channel. An informative, well written, and motivational book.
The last 30 or so pages of this book were the most impactful on me. Hesed is a difficult term to define but is central to God's character and ours. Hesed is more easily defined in action than in words.
I've watched a lot of videos from Sean Cannell's Think Media and Think Podcast. His personal story is amazing. I'm looking forward to this education.
An excellent range of reading for Father's Day gifts. YouTube Secrets will be the first
This book is full of great insight to a different mindset than most of us likely have. Wealth is not necessarily the big mansions and multiple vacation homes. It is more of a freedom to live how you want and not for those who take the money you worked for. This is a book well worth reading and reading again.
I've heard Kiyosaki's name a lot in economic talk and news. I figured his book would be worth reading. I am hoping for some inspiration and wisdom for some financial change however large or small itay be.
One of my favorite Louis L'Amour books. A story not so much about the push West, but of finding one's self in the trials of life. L'Amour never disappoints.
There are those in modern Christianity who teach God brutalized and murdered His own Son on the cross. This book takes that premise and shows it for the heresy it is. Dr. Bar lays out an excellent and Scriptural argument against this. This book is an eye opener to who killed the Messiah and why it was allowed to happen. (Tagged is not this book)
Taking a break from my gardening books. It's been years since I read this. I always list it as a favorite by L'Amour
Informative and easy to read. She makes herbalism seem easily attainable. Beautiful color photographs highlight each herb she discusses. Excellent to have on your shelf
I was feeling a little overwhelmed with gardening info. I wasn't sure if I wanted to read this coming off of an organic gardening guide. I put it by my bed and grabbed it at 2 this morning as I got up for work. I started reading it while on my porcelain chair and determined I would read it. I know...TMI.😁
This was an enjoyable read. I'd say it is akin to sitting down with your grandad to learn gardening. Full of good information on the basics of getting started. If you like organic gardening, this is a good book to have.
Not the tagged. This looks extremely interesting.
Full of helpful charts and information. All gardens are different, but the general guidelines are universal. Big take-aways: 1) Grow what you eat 2) Plan well and keep notes! 3) Enjoy the fruits of your labor! Excellent resource. Definitely recommend.
How can one add to the myriad reviews of the Rand classic? I don't think I can. This book took me 3 months to read. I don't regret one moment. I would not have 100% agreement with her philosophy of man. Her presentation of the necessity of free market capitalism is spot on. If I were to use one word for this book in light of today's world: prophetic. Read this.
I've been quite off the Litsy radar. I'm finishing up Atlas Shrugged. It has been an excellent read albeit long. The above stack is my plan, in order top to bottom, for the next few months. Gardening has pretty much become a consuming desire for me. It's a skill I think we all should have especially in these turbulent, high inflation times. Happy reading y'all!!!
Next Sabbath day read. I'm sure this will be very eye opening for me as one who seeks the Jewish roots of the faith.
This was a challenging read. The Jewish people have been marked for thousands of years. Some of the stories recounted here outside the Holocaust are horrendous. It is unfortunate that anti- Semitism is still rampant even within the "Church". It may not be a violence based hatred, but an ideological and theological arrogance towards the chosen nation. An excellent, enlightening read.
When your friend is cleaning out books and knows you like older books and gardening. My copy of the tagged (second from the bottom) book is dated 1898. There are 2 Rodale gardening books. The knowledge here is priceless.
Next up for my Sabbath reading.
This book is a challenge to rethink what you think you know about the apostle Paul and his teachings. He did not create a new religion called Christianity. Using many Scriptural references and scholarly works, Hegg conclusively proves Paul was Torah-observant and taught others to be the same. Any person who claims belief in Jesus (Yeshua) ahould read this book.
I'm about 1/4 into this #chunkster. There is a meme/saying going around: "Make Orwell fiction again." I think the same can be said of Rand. Everything I'm seeing in this book has its reality in our current world to some degree. Scary.
I've seen a few 2023 goals posted here. My initial goal for 2023 is to read these 3 books in the first few months. Outside of my reading of Scripture and faith based non-fiction, these are the 3 that are calling my name and begging to be read. A mighty goal in terms of size and depth of difficulty.
I fell a bit short in quantity this year. I'm not disappointed much. I put a lot of time and energy into gardening education either by reading or doing. I have 3 books I plan on reading in the first few months of next year. Here's to a fantastic 2023 reading year. Shalom and HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
I'm wondering if I should start this behemoth. My current reading time guess would be near 6-8 weeks. Who has read it? What did you think?
