5 posts | 9 read | 6 to read
New York Times bestselling author Cathy Maxwell returns with a delicious new series, The Brides of Wishmore What happens when a bride says no? He is the bastard son of a duke, arrogant, handsome, a little bit dangerous, and, of course, one of the most sought-after bachelors in London. He is also about to be publically jilted by some chit of a girl! Blake Stephens' pride isn't about to let him be humiliated, so he charges after his bride to the wilds of Scotland, determined to bring her to the altar. What happens when the heart says yes? He is promised to one woman, but discovers his soul stirred by . . . the chit's sister! Lady Aileen Davidson's reputation was ruined ages ago, which is why she's buried herself in the country, but her fiery spirit and bold beauty threaten to bring Blake to his knees, making him wonder if he has proposed to the wrong lass. And now he must make a choice: marry for honor . . . or marry for love?

I‘m glad I had the audio version. Very good storyline.

Total brain candy - this is the first in the Brides of Wishmore series, set in Scotland. I purposely chose this series because of the narrator (I‘m enjoying Mary Jane Wells‘ narrations). While it seemed a bit formulaic - I knew where this story was going right away without reading the synopsis - I still enjoyed the journey getting there. On to Book Two!

Crazeedi Do you listen on your tv? That is so cool! 4y
Librarybelle @Crazeedi That‘s actually my computer monitor. I recently upgraded my PC and bought a huge screen. Glad I did with all of the work I‘m doing at home! 4y

This is such a mixed bag. I liked the characters a lot, but the plot was a bit of a mess, and I felt like there was a lot of focus on people who weren't the main couple. I don't really enjoy the love triangle trope and this was pretty much a love pentagon. I want to read the next book to see what happens to the characters though.

I love coloring and listening to audiobooks! I didn't discover this until about 6 months ago----and of course, I got it from Litsy! Now, it's my go-to stress reliever from schoolwork, kids, and husband.🎧 #lovetolisten #17booklove

howjessicareads I have a friend who listens and cross-stitches, which is fairly brilliant!! I've been thinking about taking up cross-stitching again... 7y
Leelee08 @jess.how I just recently took back up cross-stitching after almost 10 years. It's so relaxing to listen to a book and cross-stitch❤ 7y
booksandsympathy I've never listened to an audio book. But the whole coloring and listening is a good idea. I've listened to book podcasts while coloring before. 7y
Leelee08 @booksandsympathy It's super relaxing. I was surprised by how much I paid attention and kept up with the story. I've finished a lot of books that way....😊 7y
