Who Killed Christopher Goodman?: Based on a True Crime
Who Killed Christopher Goodman?: Based on a True Crime | Allan Wolf
6 posts | 5 read | 4 to read
Inspired by a tragic true event in his past, Allan Wolf examines the circumstances of one boy's inexplicable murder and the fateful summer leading up to it. Everybody likes Chris Goodman. Sure, he's a little odd. He wears those funny bell-bottoms and he really likes the word ennui and he shakes your hand when he meets you, but he's also the kind of guy who's always up for a good time, always happy to lend a hand. Everybody likes Chris Goodman, which makes it especially shocking when he's murdered. Here, in a stunning multi-voiced narrative -- including the perspective of the fifteen-year-old killer -- and based on a true and terrible crime that occurred when he was in high school, author Allan Wolf sets out to answer the first question that comes to mind in moments of unthinkable tragedy: how could a thing like this happen?

This is a weird book, but I liked it. It's fiction based on a true crime that happened in VA in 1979. A young, likeable teen is murdered, and the people he knew reflect on their guilt- real or imagined. It brought up my own teen years and the death of a classmate and all the feelings of guilt and sorrow for a life cut short and feeling like if you had personally done just one thing different...

I had yesterday off and thought I was going to get ALL the reading done, but it was rainy and we got a new couch delivered (which is why I had the day off) and a headache from all the lovely rain made me take a really long nap. But still, I made some progress and started our #TeamHarkness #BuddyRead (Since I've already read ADoW 3x). 121 pts

Yesterday was a decent day for reading and I finished Where Dreams Descend and started Who Killed Christopher Goodman?- which are both books for book clubs I'm hosting this Sunday and Monday.

The last couple of books have been pretty blah for me and this one didn‘t do any better. Just confusing to follow and didn‘t really make anything interesting.

#WhoKilledChristopherGoodman is a thrilling mystery that is based on a true crime! Our reviewer had this to say about the story, "Allan Wolf intertwines real life events and people with fictitious elements in order to create a novel that perfectly captures the coincidental circumstances and long-lasting effects of both Christopher Goodman's death and the real murder it was inspired by."

Very sad, but also with a dash of humour. Multiple viewpoints. Based on a true story. Set in 1979.
