Just what it says on the tin.
My week has been consumed by Buddhism and little else other than an audio NF book I fall asleep to at night.
After reading all the materials assigned for each tradition covered thus far in this history of religions course, I feel like I know even less. 😳 I don‘t expect that to change going forward.
An accessible intro to Buddhist history and theology that covered a lot of ground in not much space. I‘m not an expert now but I feel I have a handle on some important concepts and that‘s a big accomplishment for a huge topic and a tiny book! I did think it focused too much on the west, but then it was written for western audiences.

Sometimes you just need to read something different... and short.
Working on my Intellectual History of China class. Buddhism by Keown is a very easy and comprehensive read on the foundation and development of Buddhism but the Religion of the Future by Unger is long winded and at times incoherent because of tangents. According to my professor, who was a student of Unger's at Harvard, that is because he writes like he talks.
