Everyday life in medieval England seen through the eyes of Marion, the wife of a carpenter. The novel follows her daily grind, living in a dirty one-room hut, giving birth to children who die, lugging water, battling rats and using a pool for a mirror. A first novel.

There are so many places and times I‘d want to visit if time travel was a thing but this is not one of them. The book gives a clear picture of a small village during the Middle Ages. There are a few moments of pleasure but it was mostly a time of every moment being about the survival of you, your family and your fellow villagers. It is a wonder anyone survived. 4🌟#BookedinTime #EarlyMedieval

2024 is all about the challenge of filling other challenge prompts from my own library. Starting off #BookedinTime with 2 physical books from my shelves.

I loved this book. It was a quiet little story about a year in the life of one medieval peasant woman, Marion. Nothing happens, and everything happens, and all shall be well.
