When I saw last month‘s theme I wanted to re-read this book. I wasn‘t sure if my fond memories of it were because it was a good book or if it was the book I brought with me the first time I traveled without my kids. Sometimes just being able to think makes a book better.
Happy to say it held up and I was just as into this spy novel in translation as I was 11 years ago.
It‘s Friday! I‘m putting my non-fiction away and jumping in to some mysteries. I also want to read something for this month‘s #BookedInTime @Cuilin

bailedTried to read this for #BookedinTime, but I have to throw in the towel. The narrative is plodding and pedantic and the dialogue comes across as lectures by the characters. Life is too short —moving on.
pickI did enjoy this book and enjoyed learning about the Spanish Civil War and Children of Morelia - but I did find the book never fully drew me in. I do wonder, when English isn't the first language of a book, if reading it in it's original language would have a bigger impact. The book cover also bothers me a bit because it's a book about three siblings finding their way. I still enjoyed the read and my heart breaks for all who lived through this!
Trying to get a bit of outdoor reading time in before it starts to rain. I know little about the Spanish Civil War and the Children of Morelia. I expect this will be a hard read but I'm looling forward to learning about this part of history.
