Cuilin @Bookwormjillk same, it looks good. I haven‘t read anything by her yet. Have you? I have a hold on mystery by her at my LPL 5d
Bookwormjillk @Cuilin I thought I had, but I checked and I don't have anything written down. 5d
Cuilin @Bookwormjillk I was convinced I had too. 🤔 5d
dabbe I also had quite a few DNF's this year--not just for this but a lot of others. I think I over-FOMO'd myself! 🤣 5d
Cuilin @dabbe Yep!! I‘m in my #HailTheBail era. 5d
dabbe @Cuilin 🎯🤣🎯 5d
julieclair I haven‘t had many DNFs this year, but I‘ve had a LOT of “didn‘t get to it in the assigned month and therefore will never read it because now I have to start the new month‘s books or I‘ll be behind” books. (Would love to figure out a hashtag for that, lol!) Like @dabbe , I over-FOMO‘d myself. I‘m really going to try to cut down on my challenges for 2026. (But everything sounds like so much fun!) But #BookedInTime is a keeper for sure. 5d
julieclair I absolutely love this challenge! Now… as to the original question 😂… I‘ll be reading 5d
Cuilin @julieclair oh my gosh yes to the “didn‘t read it during the assigned month so now I‘m not gonna read it” I‘m blaming my ADHD!!! 😆 American Spy sounds great. Let me know if there‘s an historical era you‘d like to see next year. I have a few ideas for some new ones but don‘t mind repeating a past prompt. 5d
Karisimo I love this time period! I've read 4 of the ones you listed! I would also recommend The Briar Club by Kate Quinn! 5d
dabbe @julieclair Yep, I have to seriously regroup. My books are collecting dust on the shelves as I keep buying more books to keep up with the group reads. Time to slow down and reassess. 🧡🤎💜 5d
Cuilin @Karisimo oh thanks for the recommendation!! Which four did you read and did you like them? 4d
Karisimo @cuilin I have read The Berlin Letters, Our Woman in Moscow, Transcription, and I Must Betray You. I liked and would recommend them all! If I *had* to pick a favorite, I would go with I Must Betray You. 4d
Cuilin @Karisimo Thanks for replying. I have Berlin Letters but with my track record I might need a back up. 🤭 4d
Jess861 Just picked up Our Woman in Moscow from the library - hoping I find time to read it! 23h
Cuilin @Jess861 May the odds be ever in your favor. 22h

The Rebel Nun | Marj Charlier

I decided on The Rebel Nun for #BookedInTime for the #EarlyMedieval theme and it's been sitting on my wishlist since January '24.

Two days ago I'm scrolling through ig and the cover catches my eye on a post from one of my local indie bookstores for an author signing on 9/26. I couldn't believe that not only would I finally get a copy, and meet the author, but that she lives in my city 💞

Now one of these days I'll actually read it 😂

Cuilin There‘s reading books, ordering books, waiting for books, in the mood for a certain book, and organizing books. Different hobbies, all valid!! It‘s time will come. 👊🫶👏 looks good 👍 1w

Mehso-so

catch up for #bookedintime. I recommend all note the TW. the racism and violence is almost relentless. Secondlyit‘s quite slow and overly hung up on descriptions of place (and I usually like that!). We follow William Thornhill from a life of nothing in London through some successes to when he loses it all again and is shipped to Australia. What then follows is he and his wife finding their way inc. the horrific interactions with the native ⬇️

Itchyfeetreader Population. Thorhill is a disappointment and gala in worth the crowd even though you are never very sure he has the same revulsion some of the other men seem to suffer from. Not easy to read or an easy one 2w
CarolynM I bailed on this one. I just don‘t like Kate Grenville. 2w
Itchyfeetreader That makes me feel better @CarolynM something certainly didn‘t click for me 2w

Mehso-so

Bjarni is sent into exile for 5 years and spends the time working as a mercenary in the Irish Sea and Scotland.

This was the author's last book, left unfinished at the time of her death, but unfinished in the sense of unpolished rather than incomplete. It does show in that I found it didn't hold my interest as much as her Roman novels. The world building and insight into Viking life and customs was good, but the story itself was rather meh.

Cuilin Sounds like an interesting read if a little meh. Vikings ✅ another prompt completed 🎉 3w

Pickpick

Continuing to catch up on my #bookedintime @Cuilin is a complex character, easy to love but also to see her faults and where she is taking herself. A story of love and hope but also arrogance and fear. There is an elpheba- esque way she is creating her later problems and legacy
