Repost for @Cuilin

#BookedInTime #BookedInTimeJuly2025 #BookedInTimeCamelot

So much to choose from: poetry, graphic novels, mythology, retellings, travelogues, seriously the list is endless so it begs the question what will you read?

Amiable I read “The Mists of Avalon” years and years ago in college —I remember liking it a lot. 2d

LitStephanie How does bookedintime work? Is there a schedule of prompts for the whole year? 2d
Cuilin @LitStephanie hi, I tagged you in another post for the schedule and explanation. Would you like me to add you to the tag list? 2d
Cuilin @Amiable I loved that book and reconciling that with the author‘s abuses is difficult. 😞 2d
ChaoticMissAdventures @Amiable @Cuilin I have had it on my shelf for years and each time I pick it up I just think about how awful she is and can't get myself to read it. 2d
ChaoticMissAdventures I think I am finally going to tackle 2d
rubyslippersreads @ChaoticMissAdventures One of my favorites. 👑 2d
Bookwormjillk I need to find something still. This is not a time I know much about so I don't have any go to titles. 2d
Amiable @ChaoticMissAdventures @Cuilin Monstrous. ☹️ My niece struggles to reconcile her love and absolute devotion to the Harry Potter series against the horribleness that is JK Rowling as well. 😖 2d
Cuilin @Amiable yeah, another tough one. I loved that series too. My daughters were huge fans. Ugh 😩 1d
julieclair I think I‘m going to read 1d
AllDebooks I am going with one of these, still haven't settled on one, as per usual. Tolkein's The Fall of Arthur, The Once and Future King or 1d
Cuilin @julieclair both look great. 👍 24h
Cuilin @AllDebooks I have Le Fay ready to go as I just read Morgan is My Name but I also own 24h
AllDebooks @Cuilin I read Morgannis my name and immediately bought Le Fay. So good! There's so much to choose from this month. 📚📚📚 20h

Nope. Not for me. Too weird. #HailtheBail #BetterBooksAhead

julieclair This was my choice for the June #BookedInTime prompt, 1800‘s Australia. I‘m going to try this one instead (not in Litsy Catalogue) Search for the Light, by Rosemary Noble. @Cuilin 2w
Cuilin Yes 🙌 #HailTheBail Hope your next one is more enjoyable. 2w
kspenmoll Your new choice sounds good. Do you have a kindle/app? It‘s free on kindle ( much as I avoid ordering from Amazon, I still use my kindle) 2w

dabbe YES! 🤩🤩🤩 2w
julieclair @kspenmoll Thanks for the kindle hint! Just downloaded it. And I agree about Amazon. I‘m trying to cut down, but boy, it‘s hard sometimes. Every time I make a different choice, I pat myself on the back. 1w
julieclair @Cuilin Thanks! Fingers crossed!🤞 1w
julieclair @dabbe 💙💟💙 1w
kspenmoll @julieclair it is a constant challenge. I am Glad Blackwell‘s is back shipping to the US. It helps. 1w
julieclair @kspenmoll Thanks for the reminder about Blackwell‘s! I tend to forget about them unless I want to buy a book that‘s unavailable in the US. 1w

The June prompt for #BookedinTime is Australian colonies 1800s. I have chosen Kate Grenville's exploration of what it means to her to be descended from colonisers.

@Cuilin @dabbe

Cuilin I think this is the one I‘m going to read also. Though I‘m still trying to finish my book from the Spanish Civil War prompt.🤦‍♀️ 1mo
AllDebooks @Cuilin it's very good so far. It would be a great read for #NaturaLitsy too. Her descriptions of landscape are beautiful. I've yet to finish 1mo
Cuilin @AllDebooks Now I‘m really interested. 4w

Finally finished this chunky book for #BookedInTime #SpanishCivilWar @Cuilin

When I saw last month‘s theme I wanted to re-read this book. I wasn‘t sure if my fond memories of it were because it was a good book or if it was the book I brought with me the first time I traveled without my kids. Sometimes just being able to think makes a book better.

Happy to say it held up and I was just as into this spy novel in translation as I was 11 years ago.

Cuilin Oh I love when that happens!! Yay! ✅🎉 1mo
ChaoticMissAdventures I remember really loving this too. So glad to hear it held up! 1mo

It‘s Friday! I‘m putting my non-fiction away and jumping in to some mysteries. I also want to read something for this month‘s #BookedInTime @Cuilin

Tried to read this for #BookedinTime, but I have to throw in the towel. The narrative is plodding and pedantic and the dialogue comes across as lectures by the characters. Life is too short —moving on.

Cuilin #HailTheBail I completely get it!!! I seem to be doing this a lot lately, myself. Here‘s hoping your next read is five stars. 1mo
Amiable @Cuilin I was listening to a podcast and someone made a comment that we are only here for a finite time and can only read so many books, so why waste that time on a book you aren‘t enjoying? It was like she was speaking directly to me and telling me to ditch this book. 😀 1mo

I did enjoy this book and enjoyed learning about the Spanish Civil War and Children of Morelia - but I did find the book never fully drew me in. I do wonder, when English isn't the first language of a book, if reading it in it's original language would have a bigger impact. The book cover also bothers me a bit because it's a book about three siblings finding their way. I still enjoyed the read and my heart breaks for all who lived through this!

Trying to get a bit of outdoor reading time in before it starts to rain. I know little about the Spanish Civil War and the Children of Morelia. I expect this will be a hard read but I'm looling forward to learning about this part of history.

Cuilin I‘m looking forward to your thoughts on this one. 2mo

For May‘s #FictionalTraveler #SpanishSpeaking prompt, I will be traveling to Ecuador. Where will everyone else be traveling? Have you ever been to that location in real life? I have never been to Ecuador. 🇪🇨

BarkingMadRead I‘m going to Mexico! I‘ve been there a couple of times, but only on cruises. 2mo
Cuilin #BookedInTime this month is the Spanish Civil War, so I‘m guessing I‘m off to Sunny Spain. I‘ve been to the Canary Islands, Gerona and Malaga. I would absolutely love to see more of the country. 2mo
BarbaraBB I‘ll travel to Argentina 🇦🇷 with this book 2mo

TheAromaofBooks I'm going to Peru! Litsy won't let me tag - It's a Jungle Out There by Ron Snelling. I've never been to Peru, but I have been to Guatemala and it was BEAUTIFUL! 2mo
julieclair @BarkingMadRead @Cuilin @BarbaraBB @TheAromaofBooks So far we have Ecuador, Mexico, Spain, Argentina and Peru. What fun! I can‘t wait to read everyone‘s reviews. 2mo
