Historical fiction with a duel timeline. I very much enjoyed the historical storyline featuring the WWII female pilot program. What amazing ladies!! The modern story line was a bit predictable. Book 39 3⭐️

A well-researched, marvelous debut.

You won‘t want to miss reading about the Fly Girls of WWII.

FEATURING: THE SECRETS OF FLIGHT

THE SECRETS OF FLIGHT is filled with writers, readers, secrets, life‘s lessons, and laugh-out-loud situations.

We meet 87-year-old Mrs. Browning also known as Miriam Lichtenstein who has a story that needs to be told and Elyse a 15-year old who helps record her story.

Rather enthralling. I enjoyed flipping between Mary‘s present and past with a bit of Elyse‘s story thrown in. It kept things interesting and kept those pages turning as I was most engaged with Mary‘s past and needed to know what happened. The big “reveal” at the end was quite obvious and rather trite, to be frank, but the rest of the story made up for it.

Finally had to opportunity to sit down in the sun and read the last few chapters. And it was excellent! Plot development ✅, character development ✅. Recommend this one for the Read Harder challenge ‘female protagonist over 60‘.

I was hesitant to read this as I generally like my fiction faster paced, but this novel snuck up on me. Told in alternating POV, what starts out as an elderly lady and high school girl meeting in a writing group turns into a quiet saga that is ultimately about growing up and family. A very touching, bittersweet novel. ⭐️⭐️⭐️✨
