Shum fictionalizes a tale told to him by one of the last Faro dealers, about the last hand played in N. America. It‘s like Leonard or Hiassen in the PNW, with characters you must meet. It‘s balanced with humor, thrills, humanity, and magic. Like his MC, the author isn‘t flashy, uses no tricks. But his skill is a thing of beauty, and holds the reader enthralled.
