I really liked this collection of poems about the Deepwater Horizon tragedy and other environmental disasters.
Flint STILL doesn't have clean drinking water.

Since 2014, the town of Flint, MI has been devastated by toxicity in the local water supply. Due to aged pipes and insufficient treatment of water, dangerous levels of lead, chlorine, and other toxins were present. The severity was downplayed by politicians, and it wasn't until public outcry over outbreaks of lead-blood poisoning, Legionnaire's Disease, and others that anything was done.
#LitsyPoetry365 Day 229 - Corexit 9527A
Corexit 9527A is a chemical used in the cleanup process of an oil spill. Typically applied by spraying from an airplane or the deck of a ship, it emulsified oil from large, floating slicks into tiny droplets that are supposed to allow bacteria in the water to consume it. However, it is highly toxic to marine life. Over 1 million gallons were applied in response to the Deepwater Horizon oil spill.

Finishing up this book of environmental poetry and chilling at Eastman for my friend's lesson ✨💕
I found a poetry book today at the library that sounded interesting, so I looked at the other poetry books and ended up taking out all of these. I tried photographing them so all the titles would fit but let me know if there's any you can't read!!
Considering that these poems were composed in reaction to manmade and natural water-based disasters with negative impact on nature during a fully staffed EPA, I almost could not read them. Deepwater Horizon oil rig explosion, Hurricane Katrina, and the Flint water crisis. A different take on nature poems, more like "destruction of nature" poems. #nationalpoetrymonth #hoopla
