I listened to the audio and really liked this! The narrator is very good, with Jacky‘s cockney accent and any other accents thrown her way. Jacky‘s fun, but can go a little too far, sometimes, for sure. But a very enjoyable book and enjoyable series

The reading performance was as great as it was in the 1st book. And while the story itself was rich and full of details, I think this one went overboard with making Jacky a Mary Sue character. The balance of her dealing with consequences was helpful though. The other negative was relying heavily on the threat of sexual violence to progress the story. Although more common for the times, it wasn't the only threat a young woman would have faced.
This was a book club pick and it was recommended that we read it in audio format and I agree that that's how this book should be consumed. The accents make the tale. It is a light and entertaining adventure story and was just what I needed right now. I read it out of order of the series and will probably go back and listen to the first book.
Jacky stresses me out even as she entertains me. There's a lot, a lot a lot, going on in this book.
It's #HumpDayPost time! @MinDea
1. A bird flew into the bookstore last week, slamming into our Tom Wolfe poster (we named the bird Tom). He was stunned for awhile, but eventually flew out.
2. Coffee.
3. Sassy pirate lady.
4. The cover of my Hocus Pocus & The All-New Sequel arc.
5. I'm exactly 5'5" and a half.
Reading this for my personal book club. Sarah's pick is the 2nd in the series, which was daunting for some of our members. I don't usually read books out of order (although the older I get, the less rigid I get about self imposed reading rules) but I've already book 1. The narration is pretty great!

"Brotherhood forever!"-Jacky and the Dolphin gang
This was one of my absolute favorite books/series growing up. Such that, when the author passed away, I was truly heartbroken. If you love adventure, history, and sassy heroines you are in for a treat. https://thebookwench.com/2015/11/18/featured-favorites-the-bloody-jack-series-by...
Jacky Faber is an excellent character, and her adventures are always thrilling, hilarious, and heartfelt, even if she's got a bit of Ado Annie complex 😄. I just wish that there was a lot less use of the threat of sexual harassment to denote danger in these books. 😕
