Anyone else still using this thing? I‘m loving this gritty Mexican vampire noir, highly recommend.

Creepy, eerie, and full of unease, but ultimately unsatisfying. I‘m glad I listened to the audiobook, because Erin Mallon does a fabulous job with the narration, and because if I had been reading it on paper I feel like I would have been too bored to finish it. Ultimately a lot of atmosphere and not a lot of substance for me. CW: Extreme gaslighting, mental illness, violence.
Long day at work means I get to read for most of the day. I have wanted to read Zora Neale Hurston‘s nonfiction for ages now, and luckily I had this ARC in my bag as an emergency backup book in case I finished all my others.
Eerie, creepy, suspenseful, and an audiobook narrator doing great work.
I am OBSESSED. It was pitched to me as Thelma and Louise meets Sons of Anarchy, but it is so much more than that. It's a story abt friendship, family, justice & scraping out a place for yourself in the world that is yours & yours alone. Amazing characters, gorgeous writing, a truthful & respectful depiction of the South & a setting so sultry & atmospheric I feel like I can open the door and walk into a hazy Blue Ridge summer night.
“We‘re friends because when girls—women—are alone in this world, they‘re easier to pick off.”
I. LOVE. THIS. BOOK. Y‘ALL.
Sons of Anarchy meets Thelma and Louise? Yes, please, sign me up forever. 100 pages into this beauty, and I am in love.
I am super in love with this book y‘all 😍🦄😍🦄😍
I love books where after I read them I have a whole list of other books I need to read.
Falling back into Tamora Pierce‘s universe was both exciting and comforting, like snuggling down into a favorite childhood blanket. All the hallmarks of a Tamora Pierce book are here: a fantastical land, an engaging school story, strong characters coming of age, magical creatures, sassy gods, the works. T&S definitely is setting up the groundwork for the later books, so there is a lot of exposition in this book, but fans of Tortall will rejoice.
LOLOLOLOLOL THIS WILL END VERY WELL FOR YOU NUMAIR I MEAM ARRAM 😁😁😁

An interesting meander through Havana: part history, party memoir, part sociology study, HAVANA: A SUBTROPICAL DELIRIUM is fascinating and easily readable, but ultimately I wanted the author to go into much more detail about the things he was writing about. However, I think it was a great book to dip your toes into if, like me, you are fascinated by Cuba.
OH DID YOU NUMAIR 👀👀👀

What a boss dedication.
Ah yes I see we have come to the part of the Lincoln in the Bardo audiobook where Nick Offerman just punches you in the heart repeatedly.
Dusty, magical, desert fable chock full of miracles, owls, rock 'n' roll, pilgrims, giants, fighting roosters, science, radio waves, and love in all of its many forms. It's very different than Maggie's Raven Cycle books, but it should be - as it is, ALL THE CROOKED SAINTS is a fabulist love song to self-reflection, and the fact that we are not as alone in this world as we think.

Crashed through the Arlington Public Library Book Sale and am feeling very pleased with myself. #TreatYoShelf
"This is not to say that he felt no compassion: even animals in zoos should have their cages cleaned."
WOW this whole passage brings to mind a whole lot of people in America these days. ?????
Sarah Perry's prose constantly surprises me with how evocative it is. Savoring this book!
We had a wonderfully tremendous event today for V.E. Schwab's final book in the Shades of Magic trilogy at @OneMorePageBooks - at least 120 if not 150 people, fantastic discussion, and a fairly smooth behind-the-scenes! Shoutout to #LitsyIRL spottings of @BookishFeminist @JPeterson and @Merethebookgal - thanks for coming, ladies!!! 🎉🎉🎉
Combating book hangover with this lovely, magical collection. My favorite story so far is about a selkie fisherman, and I am a big fan. #FridayReads
Guys I had a lot of emotions reading this last book in the Shades of Magic trilogy. The adventure is aces, the danger is dire, and the characters are crafted perfectly and with as much heart as I could handle. The ending is not really an ending but a beginning, and holy wow I loved it. My fave book in the series, hands down, and it is just stellar.
I had a fun time at work today. 😂😂😂
🙌🙌🙌 Finally starting on my reading for the fantasy panel I'm moderating at the NoVA Teen Book Festival in March!
Boyfriend had to take a call before lunch, so it's just me and Mary for a while. 😎😎😎
Heyo Litsy, it's been a while, but I'm back! To continue your scheduled programming - i got this #bookmail today, and am PUMPED.

Look I'm loving Anne of Green Gables but I feel like people leave out Marilla's super questionable opening statements
This stunning cover was calling my name at work and I had to have it - finally picking it up tonight (for the first time!!)
Omg thanks grandma
(I ❤️Isabel Greenberg SO MUCH)

I've avoided social media for a while because I have been angry, frustrated, and scared. But now I'm turning those feelings into something productive. I will educate myself and those around me, I will listen to and support those whose stories and lives get diminished, and I'm going to raise hell.

Got my hands on the new Caitlin Moran, and I am ECSTATIC. #FridayReads
It's a great day - Eleanor the Murder Cat has emerged from hiding to snuggle with me AND I got an ARC of Laini Taylor's new book 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Look, I think a @Litsy meetup is an acceptable reason to buy some more books at the book sale 😂 So glad that I got to meet up with @BookishFeminist @JPeterson & @TheNextBook and snag some winners! #TreatYoShelf #LitsyIRL
I came. I saw. I bought $36 worth of books at the Arlington Public Library Book Sale. #CrushedIt #TreatYoShelf
