Imaginary Girls
Imaginary Girls | Nova Ren Suma
7 posts | 18 read | 12 to read
Chloe's older sister, Ruby, is the girl everyone looks to and longs for, who can't be captured or caged. When a night with Ruby's friends goes horribly wrong and Chloe discovers the dead body of her classmate London Hayes left floating in the reservoir, Chloe is sent away from town and away from Ruby. But Ruby will do anything to get her sister back, and when Chloe returns to town two years later, deadly surprises await. As Chloe flirts with the truth that Ruby has hidden deeply away, the fragile line between life and death is redrawn by the complex bonds of sisterhood. With palpable drama and delicious craft, Nova Ren Suma bursts onto the YA scene with the story that everyone will be talking about.

I picked this up on a whim. It‘s surreal and tragic and beautiful.

This panel was amazing! From left to right: Elizabeth Acevedo, Brendan Kiely, Nova Ren Suma, and Emily Suvada.

Brendan talked about his book Tradition and I just ordered it on amazon! Sounds amazing. And preorders Elizabeth‘s next book.

[#BookReview] Imaginary Girls by Nova Ren Suma. I picked this up kind of on a whim and I am happy I did because it was a really gripping read. Although I am still new at the magical realism genre this book definitely had me interested in reading more. 📚🌊

I finished this book a few days ago and it's definitely not like anything I've read before. Underlying the apparent "normalcy" is a definitely creepy undertone and nothing is as it seems.

Even though this book was surreal and tragic, it showed a lovely sister bond. I wish it was more famous!
