Slinging books at a reading in Chicago
Slinging books at a reading in Chicago
Good morning! This year's holiday haul included Gwen Brooks (who is FOREVER AMAZING ??) with a side of "He is Honey, Salt and the Most Perfect Grammar," poems by Kala Krishnan Ramesh ?☺️. I hope everyone else is having an amazing morning too, whatever holiday you celebrate!
Gwendolyn Brooks is one of my favorite writers so I was excited to learn about this book. It's a collection of poems, art, fiction, and nonfiction prose celebrating Brooks as a writer and as a person. (It sounds like she was as amazing as a person as she was as a writer.) If you're not familiar with Gwendolyn Brooks, do yourself a favor and pick up one of her books. If you are and love her like I do, this book is for you.
My excellent stack of new books to read: the ARC of Sherman Alexie's memoir that I won arrived and some fantastic books from the library. I'm equally excited about all the books in this stack!
