Game Change
Game Change: Obama and the Clintons, McCain and Palin, and the Race of a Lifetime | Mark Halperin, John Heilemann
10 posts | 29 read | 2 to read
Its one of the best books on politics of any kind Ive read. For entertainment value, I put it up there with Catch 22. The Financial Times It transports you to a parallel universe in which everything in the National Enquirer is true.More interesting is what we learn about the candidates themselves: their frailties, egos and almost super-human stamina. The Financial Times I cant put down this book! Stephen Colbert Game Change is the New York Times bestselling story of the 2008 presidential election, by John Heilemann and Mark Halperin, two of the best political reporters in the country. In the spirit of Richard Ben Cramers What It Takes and Theodore H. Whites The Making of the President 1960, this classic campaign trail book tells the defining story of a new era in American politics, going deeper behind the scenes of the Obama/Biden and McCain/Palin campaigns than any other account of the historic 2008 election.

This book was amazing! It was so much nerdy fun to revisit this election and get the views from insiders from all of the various campaigns. The only downer is that I had this book several days before the election while finishing it a couple of days on the other side of Election Day…those Obama years where progressive thought we turned a corner seem so far away…no offense to those on the other side of the political spectrum.

JoeMo I will bluntly admit, I‘ve had quite enough of saying, “well that was the craziest fucking election I‘ve ever seen!” 🤷‍♂️😂🤦‍♂️ (edited) 15h

Rainy drive reading...this book feels like ancient history even though it wasn't THAT long ago, but if you want change, vote, vote, vote. (So...make sure you vote)

For today's #Septembowie pick, #Changes, I'm going with Game Change. While I haven't read the book about the 2008 election, I have seen the HBO film which focuses on John McCain's choice of Sarah Palin as his VP. @Marchpane

5 star read about the historic 2008 election of Barack Obama. What's most interesting is that you can find the seeds of Trumps election already planted 10 years ago by the McCain/Palin campaign. Amazing behind the scenes access makes for an out of this world political read!

Traveled some miles for an appointment and of course scheduled some time for a stop at B&N. Was totally confused--they got rid of the new books section!!! The new releases are only on tables or mixed in with the backlist! Hardcovers and paperbacks rubbing shoulders! I was shocked and destabilized. Are all B&Ns doing this? #bookblasphemy

krismac Mine did the same! I was very unhappy! 8y
B.Reader @krismac Ugh! It was terrible! How am I supposed to know now if I have the book at home already or not? 😂😂 8y
Rachbb3 I was in my store yesterday and it was like that too. Did not like it a bit. 8y

EllieDottie Mine local b&n did it too!! 8y
AmandaL I just discovered this today! I was disappointed. I really like looking at the new releases, and it helps me finds books where I remember the cover but not the title or the author. 8y
