How do people decide on a path, and find the drive to pursue what they want? Ida struggles more than other young people to work this out. She can shift between parallel universes, allowing her to follow alternative paths. How can she know, anyway, whether one universe is ultimately better than another? And what if the continual shifting causes her to lose what is most important to her, just as she's discovering what that is, and she can never find her way back?Ida is an intelligent, diverse and entertaining novel that explores love, loss and longing, and speaks to the condition of an array of overwhelming, and often illusory, choices.

Power restored! Didn't suffer much from Ida, week's loss of business at the bookshop is the worst of it. My heart goes out to those south of us; this storm was a lot! Got a ton of reading done. I'm useless in the heat so my husband worked in our yard, helped the neighbors, and I kept folks in beverages and read. We spent the worst of the storm in a hallway - pallet became a pile of blankets shortly thereafter and the kitten proclaimed it a throne.

Pickpick

A fantastic and thought provoking book that is at once introspective and action packed. I loved the ending and how quiet and right it felt after the climax.

I‘ll definitely be picking up other books by Alison Evans.

Omg I love this phrasing, it's spot-on perfection. Not "what gender you are" but what "they want to give you." ???

Book 2: Ida by Alison Evans. Super good, especially if you like weird parallel universe stories.
