Queen of Babble
Queen of Babble: A Novel | Meg Cabot
17 posts | 47 read | 10 to read
From New York Times bestselling author Meg Cabot comes the hilarious story of a lovable blabbermouth who can't seem to stay out of trouble. . . .What's an American girl with a big mouth but an equally big heart to do?Lizzie Nichols has a problem, and it isn't that she doesn't have the slightest idea what she's going to do with her life or that she's blowing what should be her down payment on a cute little Manhattan apartment on a trip to London to visit her long-distance boyfriend, Andrew. But what's the point of planning for the future when she's done it again? See, Lizzie can't keep her mouth shut. And it's not just that she can't keep her own secrets, she can't keep anything to herself. This time when she opens her big mouth, her good intentions get Andrew in major hot water. So now Lizzie's stuck in London with no boyfriend and no place to stay until the departure date on her nonrefundable airline ticket.Fortunately, there's Shari, Lizzie's best friend and college roommate, who's spending her summer in southern France, catering weddings with her boyfriend, Chaz, in a sixteenth-century chteau. One call and Lizzie's on a train to Souillae. Who cares if she's never traveled alone in her life and only speaks rudimentary French? One glimpse of gorgeous Chteau Mirac -- not to mention the gorgeous Luke, the son of Chteau Mirac's owner -- and she's smitten. But while most caterers can be trusted to keep a secret, Lizzie's the exception. And no sooner has the first cork been popped than Luke hates her, the bride is in tears, and it looks like Chteau Mirac is in danger of becoming a lipo-recovery spa. As if things aren't bad enough, her ex-boyfriend Andrew shows up looking for "closure" (or at least a loan), threatening to ruin everything, including Lizzie's chance at finding real love. . . .Unless she can figure out a way to use that big mouth of hers to save the day.

Very cute. Funny. Well written.
I connected with it on the very first page. I love how she is all over the place, reminds me of my own thoughts. Loved the 2nd chapter with her grandma it was hilarious.
It was great to read all the facts about fashion. I also loved the quotes before each chapter.
She's definitely the queen of babble thats for sure.

I started reading this book because I'd heard a lot about Meg Cabot and I had fairly nice expectations from her. Needless to say, Queen of Babble not just burst those expectations, it also bored me to death. The only people I liked in this one were Chaz and Shari and believe it or not but the protagonist, Lizzy was one of the worst characters ever. No development at all!

This book has been on my shelves for probably a decade. I wouldn't have picked it up now, except I needed a Q book. But I am so glad I did. It was super cute. What it lacks in originality and unpredictability, it makes up for in charm and humor.

justagirlhighonbooks Hey! Which app is this a screenshot of?😍 6y
Traci1 @justagirlhighonbooks it's bookly. It's a great app, but if you want full functionality (I think it'll only save 7 books for free), it's pricey. 6y
justagirlhighonbooks Ahhh! Why is every great app pricey!😤 But thanks for letting me know. :) 6y

A relaxed funny book. Loved reading Lizzie's inability to help others and keep her mouth shut. Will recommend it as a read for one of those dark, dull days to pick you up. So pls " Pick"

SHE ENDED. THE BOOK. WITH SEX. Meg Cabot. What an author. A+++++++++. That is how you end a book. I love it. (the rest of the book was very cool, I'd say a little different from her other MC and other plots she's written)

Oh god. I really really don't want to put a spoiler on my review of this book. But I have to. It won't majorly spoil the ending or anything if you haven't read it, but be forewarned. Good god, I love Meg Cabot.

Beginning was kind of chaotic. Everything was all over the place. It's settled down in Part 2 tho, thank god. The plot is a little hazy right now but I'm already seeing character development in the MC so I'm not bothered by it. Yay character development 🎉

Okay. So. J.K. Rowling has no chill, and The Silkworm has left me a hot fucking mess. So I will be calming the holy fuck down by starting a lighthearted Meg Cabot adult fic series that I haven't read yet. Everyone, have a nice night. Bye.
