Carniepunk
Carniepunk | Rachel Caine
A star-studded urban fantasy anthology starring bestselling authors Rachel Caine, Jennifer Estep, Kevin Hearne, Seanan McGuire, and Rob Thurman, and including Delilah S. Dawson, Kelly Gay, Mark Henry, Hillary Jacques, Jackie Kessler, Kelly Meding, Allison Pang, Nicole D. Peeler, and Jaye Wells, whose stories explore the creepy, mysterious, and, yes, sometimes magical world of traveling carnivals. "Come one, come all! The Carniepunk Midway promises you every thrill and chill a traveling carnival can provide. But fear not! Urban fantasy s biggest stars are here to guide you through this strange and dangerous world. . . ." RACHEL CAINE s vampires aren t child s play, as a naive teen discovers when her heart leads her far, far astray in The Cold Girl. With Parlor Tricks, JENNIFER ESTEP pits Gin Blanco, the Elemental Assassin, against the Wheel of Death and some dangerously creepy clowns. SEANAN McGUIRE narrates a poignant, ethereal tale of a mysterious carnival that returns to a dangerous town after twenty years in Daughter of the Midway, the Mermaid, and the Open, Lonely Sea. KEVIN HEARNE s Iron Druid and his wisecracking Irish wolfhound discover in The Demon Barker of Wheat Street that the impossibly wholesome sounding Kansas Wheat Festival is actually not a healthy place to hang out. With an eerie, unpredictable twist, ROB THURMAN reveals the fate of a psychopath stalking two young carnies in Painted Love. "

It‘s fun when you search for an author‘s audiobooks on Libby and come across something unexpected!

This was an hour long short story about a carnie kid with an interesting past. A quick fun listen that made me want to look for this anthology 🎪❤️

(Looks like the whole anthology is available from my library on Libby. Woo hoo!)

4.5/5⭐ I WANT MORE. Not because the short story wasn't sufficient enough, but because it was developed so well. Ada's voice instantly hooked me, and the depth of the carnival family and her history was shown (rather than told) perfectly.

Feeling some Harley vibes after watching Birds of Prey in the theatres this weekend. Snap of my coffee table currently after I cleaned it up and these are some books I am hoping to wrap February up with!

I was surprised how much I enjoyed this #paranormal #urbanfantasy #anthology as I despise carnivals. Honestly I only read it because it had a Kelly Meding story related to STRAY MAGIC and then was pleasantly surprised by the majority of the other stories. I‘ll be reading some of the other series related to these stories!

KarmonR I read it when it first came, and I enjoyed it as well. Very solid authors and I didn‘t feel I needed to be familiar with series to enjoy the stories. 6y
Debiw781 @KarmonR yes! Although now I want to read some of those series included in it lol 6y

I enjoyed almost every story in this and that does not always happen. Great stories to fit in small sessions of time. #urbanfantasy

Some seriously creepy stories - I read this on a plane and still kept looking over my shoulder. If you love urban fantasy, you'll love this.
