The Book of Love: A Novel | Kelly Link

I have such mixed feelings about this. Parts of it I loved, particularly a character that reminded me so much of myself as an idealistic teen. I hope I would have been as strong as he is.

But reading it was like buying a really expensive dinner and constantly wondering “was this worth the price?“ as you eat. It is so. freaking. LONG. And sometimes cruel. I was wondering up to almost the last minute if I would finish.

I've been enjoying the story so far, and I've always liked the strange worlds Kelly Link has created in her stories. I had liked Headshot too but ended up giving my vote to The Book of Love, so I'm happy to see it advance. 1d

This was an interesting read. Like the author, I love basketball. I played it as a kid, though in high school I focused on soccer. I grew up going to University of Memphis basketball games (Memphis State at the time!); my parents have stories of me being a baby and being passed up and down the row with other season ticket holders.
