I went to #CHLA last week in Indiana by the way!! I presented on my boy Sinbad and his relationship to the Beasts he encountered,such as my personal favorite; the Whale he mistook for an island!

Does this count as summer reading? Sinbad the Sailor original copy from 1806 thanks to the American Antiquarian Society!!

1. Anything with sailing. The Odyssey, Treasure Island, Blackbeard there are so many (My undergrad advisors focus was pirates!) The Pearl, Something About Jellyfish, Daughter of the Pirate King, anything with pirates/sailors and #romantsy etc. ❤️ 🌊 ⛵️
2. Mermaids, anemone and Ponyo 😀
3. Im landlocked in a desert but I‘ve been to SoCal plenty of times. Maybe Redando or Seal Beach.

Stories taken from the Arabian Nights: Tales of 1,001 Nights. I found a lot of similarities between Sindbad's travels at sea with Odysseus's journey. Always cool when myths overlap cultures.
