From the Little Free Library today. I plan to use it for #Spain for #foodandlit. Apparently the detective in the book is a “gourmet.” @Catsandbooks

It's not often my recent reads fit the prompt so well! This is a good mystery set in Barcelona and Amsterdam, a #tattoo is key evidence. #Augustgrrrl
This early Pepe Carvalho investigation has all the ingredients that make Montalban's work rich & enjoyable: Barcelona setting, food and philosophical musings. Carvalho investigates the death of a tattooed man with links to drugs, prostitution & Holland. He & feisty girlfriend Charo are interesting, making it a compelling if not suspenseful read. But I found Carvahlo a little sexist & sleazy - which suits the genre to some extent, but be warned!
This would be my #readingspot whilst in Hong Kong but it's August and tooooo hot & humid. So I'm indoors!
