SOUTHERN BASTARDS meets American Gods in a high-stakes fantasy series that masterfully blends high-octane action and jaw-dropping worldbuilding. In GOD COUNTRY, readers meet Emmett Quinlan, an old widower rattled by dementia. Emmett isn't just a problem for his children--his violent outbursts are more than the local cops can handle. When a tornado levels his home--as well as the surrounding West Texas town--a restored Quinlan rises from the wreckage. An enchanted sword at the eye of the storm gives him more than a sound mind and body, however. He's now the only man who can face these otherworldly creatures the sword has drawn down to the Lone Star State... In GOD COUNTRY salvation is a double-edged sword.

An emotional and well-written story about family, humanity, and the struggle of letting go, all wound up in a story of a son and his sick father, who accidentally finds a magic sword. This had me in tears by the end, and I‘m not sorry about it. Best purchase of planet comic con 2019.

An amazing read! Possibly I could be biased because I'm haunted Alzheimer's but I feel this story deals with it in a thoughtful and interesting way.

This was fantastic! God Country might be the best graphic novel that I have read this year. It has an original story, good art, and it really pulls at your emotions. This was not what I expected when I started. I can't recommend this one enough. 5 stars!

GrilledCheeseSamurai Agreed! I was brilliantly surprised by this one! 👍 6y

Here's Emmet Quinlan about to take on a God.

This book really surprised me with how good it was! There were some page splashes that made my jaw drop and the story was way more interesting than I actually thought it would be.

Its always such a treat when a story exceeds your expectations! Read this digitally but I think I'ma be buying it for the shelf.

TricksyTails I‘ve never heard of it before. With a description like that I‘m really eager to read it now! Also, the fact that you want to hoard ALL THE ISSUES means it must be pretty damn good! 😆 7y

I honestly could not put this graphic novel down. I read it cover to cover in one sitting. The main character's backstory was so intriguing! A grandfather with Alzheimer's regains his memories after a 12 ft talking sword "chooses" him. ??????⚡️?☄️
