Max's Words is written by Kate Banks and illustrated by Boris Kultkov. In this NF book Max is the youngest of two older brothers. His brothers collect stamps and coins but Max doesn't collect anything, until one day he started to collect words! This is a great RA book to help students build their vocabulary . #ucflae3414su20

dbears1 UDL- Clarify vocabulary and symbols (2.1) and promote understanding across languages. ESOL Strategy- Teach technical vocabulary supporting key concept. Exposing students to new vocabulary words will help develop speaking and written skills. As a activity for Max's Words, students can cut out words from old newspapers and magazines and create there own collection of words. 4y
DrSpalding Excellent universal design and English learner strategies. This book causes me to make a text to text connection with The Word Collector. 4y

Max wants a collection like his older brothers (one has stamps and the other has coins). Neither will give him anything from their collections. He decides he will start his own and it will be words. He is using the words to make a story and his brothers join in. Really fun story about stories.
