Banned from the Valley of the Kings, Amelia Peabody and her distinguished husband have returned to England with their 19-year-old son Ramses and their foster daughter, Nefret. Ramses is secretly in love with Nefret and plans to flee to Germany to avoid temptation. Then a mysterious visitor changes the plan for the whole family. Set in the Sudan, this is another exciting adventure which follows the Peabody family as they confront all the forces against them armed only with a crumbling map and an important letter...

Most of my #ForTheLoveofBooks reading seems to be finishing books I was already reading 😂 Still, it was good to finish these. I've started The Midnight Witness, but I'm not sure if I'll get it finished today or not as I'm getting ready to leave for work, followed by potential family shenanigans (my family isn't always good at deciding ahead of time 😆) @TheSpineView

Another great Amelia Peabody adventure. I loved how this was a lost tale. #pantone2022

I struggled & often tuned out of the audiobook. When I focused again I could still follow along. It was frustrating to go back in the series timeline & deal with pre-Ramses/Nefret, knowing everyone survives (main characters always do, but it still lacked suspense), & pre-Sethos revelations. Book seemed like filler. Narrator Rosenblat, as always, injected life to the cast, but overall the book did not hold up. 2/5 ⭐ #projectSAMS

Another great installment in the series and I love Barbara Rosenblatt's narration. She does a phenomenal job with all of the characters. My only complaint is that this novel is out of chronological order which unfortunately means we get more of lovesick, whiny Ramses, although he's admittedly not as bad as he was in prior books. Other than that-great characters, mystery, intrigue, and a hefty body count, with a little archaeology thrown in. 😍

Haweller So sad that she h passed on and so have her characters. 8y
DGRachel @Haweller I just learned that her friend, Joan Hess, finished a last book in this series for her. It comes out July 25th. Fingers crossed! 8y

I had to think about this one for a while, because there are so many to choose from, and so many of my favorites had already been mentioned. Then my eye fell on this one, and I laughed. Amelia Peabody is most certainly an #unforgettablewoman, as is Elizabeth Peters! #booktober
