Perhaps the fact that the 2008 film revealed the basic twist of the plot spoiled for me any surprising aspects that the story may have had for its original readers. However, I also read Jekyll & Hyde recently, and my familiarity with the story didn‘t affect my reading enjoyment.

Fitzgerald does write some beautiful passages, but overall I found it a bit dull.

Thanks again for the opportunity to read this, @SerialReader !

Cathythoughts I wasn‘t a fan of the movie ...I bailed on movie , so I never felt like trying the book 6y
ClairesReads Totally agree- it just doesn‘t really go anywhere 6y
Libby1 @Cathythoughts and @ClairesReads - ditto. I didn‘t like the movie all that much but I knew the story was sufficiently different enough to give it a try. 6y

Three stars. Good if you want to compare Fitzgerald‘s work. My second Serial Reader book this year. (Of 20). #finishingfebruary

An absurd story about a man who is born old and ages backward written as a children's story. It reminded me of Curious George, but with humorous potshots at societal conventions and prejudices. A quick, fun read. 4/5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Picked up this book for the Book Lover's Supper Club at our local indie theater (Robinson Film Center) and now going back to read the ones we didn't cover. Hadn't read F. Scott since college and am enjoying his descriptions.
