I read this book ridiculously quick and didn't like it at all. Then, I drank a bottle of wine and a lightbulb went off! This is still the most messed up book I have read (and I read some messed up shit) but I think drunk me understands it a bit more. Drunk me also wrote thoughts in the book @BookishTrish You're welcome AND I'm sorry 😂 but she apparently has more interesting and valid points!

FINALLY DONE @Jabberwocky @BookishTrish @FantasyChick so I can finally say goodbye and ship this off for #LMPBC #seatosea which ia great b/c honestly I have no idea what I just read and don't care to sift through all the carcasses to figure it out!! The characters were odd, underdevelopd or inconsistent, the magical realism felt awkward and served what purpose I'm unsure. I would have bailed but bookclub meant I stuck it out till the bloody end!

HmMMMMm I‘m really torn. Im honestly not to sure (right now anyway) what I actually think off the book. Does anyone else find that? That you need a 12 hour period after reading a book before you are really ready to say with any real conviction what you thought of it? I‘ve been given a copy of this ARC and if you like the sound of it, I‘d like to use it for #seatosearoundtwo (unless it sucks in which case I‘m leaning toward Barnacle Love).

I received this ARC free through NetGalley in exchange for my review. This one didn‘t work for me, and I struggled to finish it. The story was very disjointed and the plot did not make sense to me overall. I wasn‘t sure if this was a story about a man‘s struggles with PTSD or his daughter‘s return home. The magical realism elements didn‘t seem central to the story but only thrown in for effect. Characters were somewhat underdeveloped. 2⭐️

Morning errands are done and the snow is really building up now. Time to get cozy. I‘m caught up on all my buddy reads, so I‘m reading this NetGalley ARC this afternoon.
