Tornado Terror (I Survived True Stories #3) | Lauren Tarshis
3 posts | 2 read
The Tri-State Tornado of 1925 was the deadliest tornado strike in American history, tearing through three states and killing 700 people. The Joplin Tornado of 2011 was a mile-wide monster that destroyed heart of a vibrant city. The true stories of these two events plus fascinating facts, profiles of tornado scientists and storm chasers create a unique and thrilling nonfiction read, by the author of the New York Times bestselling I Survived series.

I almost thought he had given up on I Survived, but we finally finished this tonight. He surprised me by asking for another I Survived book.

1. Unpacking new books, getting them to the right people and seeing the students read them.
2. It took a while to find the job I love. I didn't know then what I would do. So I'd suggest this career to work toward.
3. Facebook memories, I'm addicted.
4. Read to my son (tagged book) and then rub his back until I've of us falls asleep.

This NF told the stories of real people and their experiences with two of the biggest tornadoes in U.S. history. I found a video by the author where she goes deeper into her process for writing about the Joplin Tornado. She also asks some higher order thinking questions for students. #UCFWalterslit http://www.laurentarshis.com/i-survived/i-survived-true-stories-3-tornado-terror

Brookegamble @Caitlin4 I really love the I Survived series! They have so many books based on historical events that are great for children to be aware of. They make the stories easy to understand by making them a bit relatable. I would love to have these books in my classroom! #UCFWaltersLit 7y
