7 posts | 7 read | 10 to read
'I'm not okay. I used to know you guys so well I could read your thoughts, and now, it's as though every day, every minute even, I know you less. You're turning into strangers.' Jackie used to know her sons like she knew herself. But now Wade and Connor are turning into strangers before her very eyes. Wade is smoking, disappearing late at night and now the police are knocking at her at her door. Suddenly Wade becomes the suspect in a carjacking that has resulted in the death of a 17-year-old boy. Vilified by the press, targeted on social media, and abandoned by his friends Wade faces a fight to prove his innocence. But before Jackie can get to the bottom of the secrets that clouded that night she wakes to a chilling message from Wade on Facebook 'By the time you read this, I'll be dead.'

I didn‘t dislike this but I didn‘t overly love it either which I‘m disappointed about as it‘s one I had wanted to read for a while. The storyline had potential but it didn‘t pack the suspense that I felt it should have. At times i felt it was more aimed at a YA audience. The ending, although good, seemed too rushed after a long middle. I wouldn‘t say not to read it but I wouldn‘t highly recommend it either.

My two Seniors finished school on Friday and graduation is next weekend. I have a Junior that will finish up this week. It‘s been a crazy couple of weeks so I haven‘t been on Litsy as much as usual. Ready for life to slow down a bit soon ❤️❤️❤️

When a popular teen is run down in a carjacking gone wrong, all suspicion is put on the sensitive, art kid. This seems like it could be full of suspense, but I was never really on the edge of my seat. The middle felt like it dragged on (A LOT), and I felt like all of the characters were pretty hard to connect to. I think the concept (and the ending) was stellar, but I felt like it was lacking in execution. #arc ⭐️⭐️⭐️1/2

Loved! A little slow to start, but I found my groove a few chapters in. I enjoyed the twisty mystery and slow-build suspense-didn‘t see that ending coming! The best part to me was the relationships among these characters (good and not-so-good). Jackie‘s realization that she doesn‘t know her sons as well as she thought rang so true, as did her desperation to help them. The use of social media by teens/tweens in the plot was fantastic and alarming.

⭐⭐⭐⭐I read an ARC of this book, provided by the publisher.
It took me a little bit to get into this but once I did, wow. What a great book. I truly did not see that ending. Highly recommended. Publish date is 3/6/18 here in the US.
