Departure
Departure | A. G. Riddle
The worlds past and future rests in the hands of five unwitting strangers in this definitive edition of A. G. Riddle's time-traveling, mind-bending speculative thriller. En route to London from New York, Flight 305 suddenly loses power and crash-lands in the English countryside, plunging a group of strangers into a mysterious adventure that will have repercussions for all of humankind. Struggling to stay alive, the survivors soon realize that the world theyve crashed in is very different from the one they left. But where are they? Why are they here? And how will they get back home? Five passengers seem to hold clues about whats really going on: writer Harper Lane, venture capitalist Nick Stone, German genetic researcher Sabrina Schrder, computer scientist Yul Tan, and Grayson Shaw, the son of a billionaire philanthropist. As more facts about the crash emerge, it becomes clear that some in this group know more than theyre letting onanswers that will lead Harper and Nick to uncover a far-reaching conspiracy involving their own lives. As they begin to piece together the truth, they discover they have the power to change the future and the pastto save our world . . . or end it. A wildly inventive and propulsive adventure full of hairpin twists, Departure is a thrilling tale that weaves together power, ambition, fate, memory, and love, from a bold and visionary talent.

Along the same lines as his usual works, this one I also enjoyed. Begins with a plane crash and when the survivors realise they are in a world quite different from the one they left they set out to figure out the conspiracy and how 5 of them are connected.

This is one of those "I can't put it down" books. The book started in an adrenaline rush and continued all the way through. This was the thrilling roller coaster we all like to ride: Fast with plenty of twists and turns. I knocked this out in 2 days (a superhuman feat with 3 girls under 8). Well worth the time investment. #tbr #bookspinbingo

Suet624 I don‘t usually read this kind of story, but you have me curious. Stacked! 2y

Passengers of a mysterious plane crash fight for survival only to discover that something very wrong is happening in the world beyond the crash site. It‘s now up to five key passengers to save or destroy mankind forever. Feeling the chills yet? ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This was a surprising read for me. Started a bit slow, seems even a plane crash isn‘t enough for me, but then it picks up when the reason for the crash is evident. Two timelines, 2015 and 2147. Good read. 4⭐️. This book has ❤️.

JanuarieTimewalker13 It‘s written with 2 POVs also. Nick and Harper. I think it‘s a book lover‘s type of book, also. 5y

A tragic plane crash occurs over England, the survivors quickly realise the world they have crashed into is very different from the one they left. Five passengers seem to hold clues about what is going on, and as the truth is pieced together, they realise they have the power to change the past and future, and save our world. Or end it! Five stars, great story ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

So, this was somewhere between a so-so and a pick for me. While the narration (alternating between 2 readers) was superb, the story was a mixed bag. I liked some parts, but others left me a bit confused. Not a bad listen, and I would definitely listen to more from both narrators. I would say this is a case where the readers elevated the story beyond what it would have been in print.

And another one down! Good story and likable characters. Sci-fi about an airplane that ends up in the future.

Science-Fiction is not my usual go-to, and with that being said, I was enraptured with this novel. In one word: Captivating. #mustread

Sometimes as a book blogger, you end up with a book that someone else you know is just better qualified to review. This one was being compared to LOST, so I sent it off to my brother for him to review: https://goo.gl/p9zFa9
