For the most part, a highly enjoyable collection of dark and creepy short stories, which feel more 1920 than 2020. Really enjoyed the Charlie Parker novella “Tbe Reflecting Eye”— hard-boiled detective meets Stephen King .

Fantastic short story collections. Quite possibly the freakiest clown story ever!

I think John Connolly sat down with a list pad and asked himself “What scares people?” And then wrote a short story for each item. It‘s all here. From the stand horror stock, vampires, witches, haunted houses, to nightmare fodder giant spiders and evil clowns, to real life horrors, child abduction and cancer. It‘s all just creepy enough to be satisfying. A thoroughly spooky good read.
I can‘t even remember when I bought this, but it was definitely when I lived in SF. #neglected
Day 16 #booktober #shortstories John Connolly, one of my top 5 authors. Love this macabre collection. Rereading.
