so-soI think I'm just not vibing with Ally as a character, and this book seemed like it took forever to get to it's inevitable end.

Moving on to Book 2! I‘ve probably listened to this audiobook 10+ times, in the past 15 years. I used to have the tapes. It‘s good every time!
so-soI read the series this week and, on top of the white savior narrative others have identified, keep coming back to the plot's reliance on divine intervention as a huge flaw. Aly doesn't have to make any of the hard choices that would have made the rebellion more interesting. I liked seeing her succeed, but I wanted to see her struggle in a meaningful way. Still, it's Tamora Pierce, and I mostly enjoyed it.

pickLove this book and read it way too much. In other news, my cat, Simba, died in late October and now I'm getting a golden doodle puppy and naming her Nala. I get her on the 27th and I'm so excited. Isn't she adorable??

pickFinished my Tortallan re read and it ended a little low for me. Liked but didn't love these books. So glad I rediscovered the overall series and looking forward to seeing what Tamora Pierce does next.
