Help! Has anyone tried to import their stacks from Goodreads and had an issue where, when you drop in the exported Goodreads file, you get an image of a down arrow pointing to a “clear upload“ button... for, like, ever? There's no indication it's doing anything? I have a gigantic library, so maybe it'll just take a while?

rretzler Mine took some time - I don‘t recall what it said but I just went on to other things and went back to it later. I imported about 2,000+ books. Unfortunately, I wasn‘t crazy about how they all imported so I reverted back to what I had in Litsy and am going to scrub the data before importing again. 6y

Brooke_H @rretzler Was there any indication it was importing? Mine just has had that arrow + button for almost 2 hrs now. 6y

rretzler It did have an arrow but it was stuck at the same place for a long time - I noticed a small button somewhere (I think near the upper right of the Import Stack screen that said check status, or something about import status. When I checked, it gave me a different status from the import bar. (Hopefully that makes sense. I wish I had a pic to share) 6y

I finished Magic Hour last night, now I'm not sure what to pick next.... I used to keep a couple extra "next books" to read, my TBR shelf has grown.... And I don't know what to pick....?

On the bright side, here‘s Paisley (#dogsoflitsy). On the crappy side, I‘ve fallen way behind in school and I have no idea how to tackle the amount of work I currently have left to do. I‘ve pretty much just spent the last two weeks staring into space and feeling horrible about it. Does anyone have any advice for playing a really urgent game of catch-up? (Preferably advice for someone dealing with mental illness.)

CouronneDhiver Don‘t spend a lot of time over-analyzing, but it‘s easier to tackle a big project in small “bites”... divide and conquer! 💪🏽 6y

JoScho Yeah I don‘t have any true words of wisdom but I would say just take it one task at a time. I am sure looking at it as a whole is overwhelming. 6y

Help! Does anyone know what to do?

I just downloaded this audiobook this morning on Libby. It has an exclamation point in the play button and when I press it doesn‘t play.

I don‘t know what I should do or how to fix it! 😣😣

I only have 20 days to listen to a 20 hr audio book!

Laughterhp Alright, I figured out how to contact Libby support. Fingers crossed they get back to me quickly!! I don‘t want my book to expire! 😬😬😬😬 6y

emtobiasz You could also try to delete the download and redownload it. You should have a spot with a red check mark that, when touched, gives you the option to switch to streaming. That will delete the download. Then just switch back to “download title” and it will redownload automatically when you‘re on WiFi. I used to do this a lot when my phone memory was full! 6y

Laughterhp @emtobiasz Oh okay. I couldn‘t figure out how to delete to do that. I was afraid if I deleted it, I wouldn‘t get the title back! 6y

I am conducting research on the movement to make school start at a later time and discovered that in the 1800s and even in the 1900s, school started at 9 AM. I have not been able to find when the shift was made to start earlier and what the reasons behind it were. I was wondering if any of you could lead me to a resource that might include that info. tonyahoswalt I don't have a resource handy, but I remember something about school starting later so the kids could help on the farms in the mornings. As this phased out, school was able to start earlier. I may be remembering incorrectly. If no one else answers, I'll see if I can either do some research in one of my libraries databases, or get someone at one of our branches to dig through some books. 7y

teebe ^ The first Industrial Revolution happened in the US between 1790-1830s.. so the switch from an agrarian economy to an industrial one played a huge role but also.. part of it might be Daylight Savings Time, as opposed to a decision to specifically start school early (this was first introduced across the US in 1918.) LibrarianRyan We have such a long summer break compared to other countries because of farming. 7y

merelybookish I would look into when bussing became important and when extracurricular sports became part of after school. My understanding is that one of the motives to have school start earlier in the year is related to football. Sorry no resources just some ideas! 7y

MizLit Also, school serves as daycare for lots of families. As folks needed to leave for work earlier and the majority of households shifted to all present-parents working, school needed to start earlier to accommodate working families. 7y

SleepyDragon There's a movement? That's interesting. Did it vary by region/climate at all? I ask because our high school here in the desert starts super early to save on energy during the hot weather. 7y
