This was a Steampunk styled world where mechanicals are some how imbued with sentience via glyphs etched on the metal of their bodies and real humans are considered “proper.“
I really enjoyed the story I got in an alternate Britain with a bunch of misfit mechanicals setting out on an adventure to find the greatest maker of the age but I was frustrated with the lack of a coherent “magic system“ explanation.
