I had to read Shogun to understand the
"Whys?" of the series. I loved it. Although, it was Japanese historical fiction through the eyes of a white man. I need to read Musashi, written by Murakami, about the same time period. The penny dreadfuls pop out - Dracula, Frankenstein (I remember being so surprised at this-I had been influenced way too much by Hollywood), and The Picture of Dorian Grey. #TLT @dabbe

I had never heard of Captain Thuridur, which is surprising considering how much I love both sea stories and Icelandic history. Her reputation suffered as women's rights waned in the 1800s in Iceland, but this book brings her back to her rightful status as a bad-ass woman of Iceland's past.

I listened to this while taking a walk and it made me snort laugh more than once. It‘s a time travel adventure that starts with a somewhat delusional plan to steal a bug fighter to land it on the White House lawn to prove to the world that Yeerks exist but very quickly derails into a time travel adventure… when they get into a fight with Visser Three‘s blade ship and tear a rip in the space time continuum.

For the love of all the gods and all the dragons… I get that Paolini has created this very full world, but good lord do I need a 20 min description of something that can be said in a paragraph? (Dear Reader, High Fantasy is not for me lol) One more and then I can read Murtagh. 😭

I can't remember that Katniss was this irritating the first time I read Catching Fire. She was like a whiny child, only seeing what she wanted.

The story however was expertly executed, and gripping as ever.

A friend recommended this one to me, and I'm so glad they did. I had such a fun time reading this book. It was humorous, with some great action scenes and a whole cast of wacky characters.

I told someone it was like Hitchhiker's Guide, Ready Player One, and Hunger Games all mashed together to create a glorious, entertaining mess that you can't look away from once you start. 😁

I can't wait to start another adventure with Carl and Princess Donut.

DogMomIrene I love these audiobooks. 1d

1. During Ren faire season I need it to tip all the performers.
2. Yes in the series. Malfoy comes from money & was raised to use it to get what he wants. Harry grew up poor & uses his money carefully & with purpose.
Ex: The Malfoys buy the entire quidditch team brooms so Draco can be seeker. When the Firebolt is first released, Harry can't imagine spending the money to buy it when he has a perfectly good broom.

TheSpineView Always wise to have a little cash. Thanks for playing 2d
