ORIGINAL SF TRADE PAPERBACK. Humanity is not alone in the universe. Across the galaxy, a war rages between advanced alien races. And its about to be brought to our doorstep. The year is 2065 and an accidental encounter in space leads to the discovery that we are not alone in the universeand that our continued existence as a species may be in jeopardy. Chris Holt, working in his office at the Space Resources Corporation, discovers that one of the asteroids he is surveying for mining is actually not an asteroid at all but a derelict spaceship. The word gets out and soon the world's powers are competing to explore and claim for themselves the secrets that it holds. What they don't know is that across the galaxy, a war has been underway for millennia. A war between alien civilizations that have very different ideas about what should be done about emerging spacefaring civilizations like our own. The artificial intelligence resident in the derelict Holt discovered has been in our solar system since before the dawn of human civilization, watching, waiting and keeping quiet lest the interstellar war return and wipe out the sentient race that now resides therehumanity. And that war might soon be again coming to our front door. The truth can only be discovered on Methone, a tiny, egg-shaped moon of the planet Saturn. Who will get there first? And will it be in time? p.p1 {margin: 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px; font: 12.0px Helvetica; color: #454545} At the publisher's request, this title is sold without DRM (Digital Rights Management). Mehso-so

The premise of this novel is good and I really did enjoy it, but the ending fell flat, and I changed my rating from 4⭐️s to 3⭐️s. Alien contact, alien technology lead to international conflict. It is more complicated than that, but the racial bias hits a sour note. I liked the science fiction aspect of the book, and I wanted more. Overall, an entertaining read. ⭐️⭐️⭐️

Pickpick

Mission to Methone - I liked it. It was a good old-fashioned SciFi story with emphasis on the hard sciences. The cast is diverse starting with the MC who is on autism spectrum and a female military Colonel mission leader. The other primary characters are from Japan, the EU, and China.

#bookspin bingo - I‘m quite happy that this is my 8th bookspin book this month. Bookspin has definitely helped me get through my huge TBR book pile

TheAromaofBooks Yay!! Great progress!! 4y
mylifeas_marissa I've never heard of Bookspin Bingo. What exactly is it because I keep seeing posts about it? 4y
wanderinglynn @mylifeas_marissa it‘s just a fun way to get through your TBR. You pick 20-25 books from your TBR, as I did. Then each month @TheAromaofBooks (she hosts it) draws one number. That number is your bookspin book. She‘ll draw a second number and that‘s your doublespin book. Then she‘ll create a bingo board with all 25 numbers. The books you picked go into the spaces and as you read one of the books, you mark that space. 👇🏻 4y

wanderinglynn To get involved, all you have to do is post your stack of books (you can just make a list of 1-20/25 books) and tag Sarah @TheAromaofBooks & she will tag you on all bookspin posts. 😀 (edited) 4y
TheAromaofBooks @mylifeas_marissa - Lynn has it all exactly right!! Anyone is welcome to join - I draw the numbers on the 2nd of every month. I think Lynn gave you a good overview of the basics, but here is a master post I made with more details - https://www.litsy.com/web/post/1989556 Just let me know if you have any questions & feel free to post a list!! 4y
mylifeas_marissa Ok thank you @wanderinglynn and @TheAromaofBooks! I'll definitely look into it! 4y

#weekendreads

1. The tagged, Stiff, Mostly Dead Things, & Witches Be Crazy
2. The Library of the Unwritten ⭐️
3. Before I moved, I‘d say cool mornings, crisp nights, and the leaves changing. But now, 🤷🏼‍♀️ maybe just slightly cooler (but not cool) temps

Sharpeipup Your fall hopes sound like mine! I‘ll take anything under 90 degrees...you? 4y
Scochrane26 @wanderinglynn @Sharpeipup You all would love it in Ky this week. It usually doesn‘t last long though. 4y
wanderinglynn @Sharpeipup I‘ve been told it does get cooler here. Mid-60s in the “winter.” So that will be nice. And it rarely gets above 90 here. It‘s just the humidity. 4y

wanderinglynn @Scochrane26 yes, 💚 I grew up in East TN, and I love fall there. 4y
Read-y_Picker How are you enjoying Stiff? 4y
wanderinglynn @Read-y_Picker it‘s a so-so for me. I‘m enjoying the actual bits about cadavers, but I find there‘s too much filler. She‘s humorous to a point, but she gives a lot of extraneous comments. 4y
Read-y_Picker @wanderinglynn I remember it being extremely graphic at times, like I wanted to toss my iPad across the room. Some really cool, interesting content in there! 4y
