Being an Actor
Being an Actor | Simon Callow
1 post | 1 to read
A gloomy assessment of the state of British theatre today: the decline of ensemble playing; lack of training for young actors; novelty replacing substance. It ends with a warning that without attention to stagecraft, British theatre will surely die.

I've read a lot of autobiographies in my time and a few really stand out in my memory. This is one I've returned to more than once. He was only 35 when it was published but he had plenty to say about his experiences and his profession.

EvieBee Simon Callow! Wow! 7y
CarolynM @EvieBee Wow indeed! I'm a big fan and I absolutely recommend this book. There current edition was revised and updated relatively recently. He's written a couple of other autobiographical books:Shooting the Actor and Love is Where it Falls. Both really good too. I also loved his biography of Charles Laughton. 7y
