Jack of Hearts (and other parts)
Jack of Hearts (and other parts) | L. C. Rosen
14 posts | 15 read | 12 to read
Pretty Little Liars meets Dan Savage in this modern, fresh, YA debut about an unapologetically queer teen working to uncover a blackmailer threatening him back into the closet. Jack has a lot of sex--and he's not ashamed of it. While he's sometimes ostracized, and gossip constantly rages about his sex life, Jack always believes that "it could be worse." But then, the worse unexpectedly strikes: When Jack starts writing a teen sex advice column for an online site, he begins to receive creepy and threatening love letters that attempt to force Jack to curb his sexuality and personality. Now it's up to Jack an his best friends to uncover the stalker--before their love becomes dangerous. Ground-breaking and page-turning, Jack of Hearts (and other parts) celebrates the freedom to be oneself, especially in the face of adversity.

1st book finished for the #20in4 #readathon @Andrew65

This book is very sexually explicit for a YA novel and I imagine it might have upset some parents because of that. But it is so sweet and fun and the characters are so warm and fuzzy. The advice Jack gives in his column is so down-to-earth and practical for teens who are struggling with their sexuality, that it's a big relief in its honesty. I appreciated it a lot.

Andrew65 Well done 👏👏👏 4y

#NaNoWriMo is over! Now I can finally spend time on here again. 😆

Since I was trying to write and fight off various distractions from writing last month, I didn't get a lot of reading done. This book is one of the three I managed to read, and it was excellent. Highly recommend. I liked it so much I'm reading Camp by the same author.

CW for stalking and alcohol abuse.

Read this crazy little YA in a day. It was a fun read. A little risqué at parts but overall very enjoyable.

This was like the queer version of The Birds and Bees, and You and Me, and it was fantastic. I loved Jack‘s sex-positive attitude and the way he wrote his column. I loved his relationship with his mom, and HER sex-positivity. I laughed over the NYC private school scene. I won‘t spoil the mystery, except to say that that Jack‘s response to it was realistic and moving. A must read for everyone.

Picked this off my TBR to read while my partner cooks dinner. She‘s making chili to combat he cold. I‘ll leave the cooking to her and enjoy my book.

Did my part for Small Business Saturday. Plus, I needed to celebrate crossing the 300 followers threshold. (Got a ten-dollar gift card for spending over $50. Now I have to go back! 😆) 💗📚
