Arabian Nights: Tales from a Thousand and One Nights
Arabian Nights: Tales from a Thousand and One Nights | Richard Francis Burton
Full of mischief, valor, ribaldry, and romance, The Arabian Nights has enthralled readers for centuries. These are the tales that saved the life of Shahrazad, whose husband, the king, executed each of his wives after a single night of marriage. Beginning an enchanting story each evening, Shahrazad always withheld the ending: A thousand and one nights later, her life was spared forever. This volume reproduces the 1932 Modern Library edition, for which Bennett A. Cerf chose the most famous and representative stories from Sir Richard F. Burton's multivolume translation, and includes Burton's extensive and acclaimed explanatory notes. These tales, including Alaeddin; or, the Wonderful Lamp, Sinbad the Seaman and Sinbad the Landsman, and Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves, have entered into the popular imagination, demonstrating that Shahrazad's spell remains unbroken.

This book is okay, I just didn't enjoy the book as much as I thought I would. I didn't care for the characters at all. I rated this book a 3 out of 5 stars.

My #Aladdin pick for the #FairytaleReadingChallenge. This wasn‘t my favorite collection of tales but I‘m glad I finally got around to reading it. This edition is nicely illustrated. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This is probably the classic that's been on my TBR list the longest. We've always intended to get an Arabic copy, so my husband could brush up on the language while we read. At least I have an idea for his Christmas present now! #junebookbugs

This is pretty wordy, but the stories are good enough that if you find that off putting consider finding a more modern translation. If you like Disney, you'll want to try "Aladdin," and if you're a classical music fan, try the stories that inspired the Shahrazad suite.
