A mysterious and bloodthirsty matriarchal force runs the town of Redlands, Florida, and in order to stay on top, sacrifices must be made. Someone is intent on removing these women from the top of the food chain, and he's ready to unleash their darkest secret but has seriously underestimated the lengths the townspeople will go to protect the new order of things. Mehso-so

I liked the look and feel, I‘m intrigued by the setting, I‘m definitely in for book 2 - but this first volume left me kind of cold. There isn‘t really much of a story, either issue to issue or in the volume as a whole, or at least not much that gets meaningfully resolved. One major plot thread just kind of stops in the weirdest way, which starts another that comes from nowhere. Weird structure here. Promising, but not fully formed yet.

Wow!!! This was an over the top comic about 3 witches who take over the town of Redlands. If Quentin Tarantino and the writers of American Horror Story collaborated to make a dark and sexy comic filled with rage about gender and race inequality this would be it. It is in your face. The art is lovely. My only beef which I‘m sure is common is that each new issue sprouted a 1000 more questions than it answered. #24in48

queerbookreader Yay you liked it too!!!! What'd you think about that one witch's kid that she transfigured into a human out of bug that was creepy right. Children are secretly BUGS TRANSFIGURED BY WITCHES 6y
Reggie @queerbookreader yeah, I was like, oh we got some nice interracial adoption going on until the sister says something about Itsy. Then I was went back and saw the spider web, and then the name clicked and I was like, OH. But I thought it was pretty cool that Itsy was clairvoyant. I dug the panel about how the ghost of the girl awoke inside Bridget‘s body. The whole throughout time storylines. I really, really, dug this. 6y
queerbookreader @Reggie Yeah and I loved how at first she was pissed that the ghost possessed her, but then after the ghost explained why she wanted to, she was like "okay revenge that's fine I get it go get your revenge girl just don't scratch the exterior too much" and just let the ghost possess her. I was like that's the real meaning of girls having other girl's backs lmao 6y
queerbookreader Yeah anyways idk why it got hated so much on goodreads, I loved it. It's a good horror comic without being so gross-out creepy or violent that I can't sleep at night, which I appreciate a lot 6y

Clearly this is a super unpopular opinion on goodreads, but I liked this comic a lot. It was a cool story about three witches who took over this town and there's lots of gore and blood and violence and there's this revenge arc and ya. Deffo classify it as horror. The best part is 2 of 3 witches are WOC, one is wlw, and one is trans. That NEVER happens. Witches are always busty cishet white girls. Not queer and WOC.

Would def recommend 🔥 more ⬇️

queerbookreader I think my favorite part of it was that it explored women's rage. This book has a huge aspect devoted to the exploration of women's rage, and that would only ever be covered by a female creative team (which there is!). Idk why so many ppl on goodreads didn't like it even tho I can guess why, but try it out if you want a paranormal horror comic that is unintentionally feminist in concept and execution 6y
Reggie What a great review!!! And WOC? Witches of color or women of color? Or both? Or neither? 6y
queerbookreader @Reggie women of color! 6y
