bailedSorry, l can't. I tried very hard to stick to The Hunters, since the characters are well-crafted, the dialogue are nice, the writing is smooth. But no amount of lovely writing can make up for the boredom of one party after another without a hint of direction.
If there is a story, it's taking too long to shaw itself. I'm out.
Let's see if l can make a good dent in Northanger Abbey tonight.
Seriously, if tonight still nothing substantial happens, l'm going to start skipping, no matter how lovely the writing is.

1920s story set in Africa. Not as uncommon as it may sound, but it's a first for me.

pickI absolutely loved this book which follows fourteen year old Theo as he moves from Scotland to colonial Kenya in the 1920s. He is infatuated with the glamorous ‘Happy Valley‘ set of rich expats, however slowly begins to see the darkness beneath their idealistic lifestyle. It is such an evocative novel with fascinating characters. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
