"One Good Dog is a wonderful novel: a moving, tender, and brilliantly crafted story about two fightersone a man, one a dog hoping to leave the fight behind, who ultimately find their salvation in each other. Susan Wilson's clear and unflinching style is perfectly suited for her story that strips away the trappings and toys we all hide behind, and exposes our essential need to give and accept love in order to thrive."Garth Stein, New York Times bestselling author of The Art of Racing in the Rain Adam March is a self-made "Master of the Universe." He has it all: the beautiful wife, the high-powered job, the glittering circle of friends. But there is a price to be paid for all these trappings, and the pressure is mountinguntil the day Adam makes a fatal mistake. His assistant leaves him a message with three words: your sister called. What no one knows is that Adam's sister has been missing for decades. That she represents the excruciatingly painful past he has left behind. And that her absence has secretly tormented him all these years. When his assistant brushes off his request for an explanation in favor of her more pressing personal call, Adam loses it. And all hell breaks loose. Adam is escorted from the building. He loses his job. He loses his wife. He loses the life he's worked so hard to achieve. He doesn't believe it is possible to sink any lower when he is assigned to work in a soup kitchen as a form of community service. But unbeknownst to Adam, this is where his life will intersect with Chance. Chance is a mixed breed Pit Bull. He's been born and raised to fight and seldom leaves the dirty basement where he is kept between fights. But Chance is not a victim or a monster. It is Chance's unique spirit that helps him escape and puts him in the path of Adam. What transpires is the story of one man, one dog, and how they save each otherin ways they never could have expected.

A captivating, heartfelt read for anyone who understands the unconditional love of a dog or any other animal and how their love and companionship can help heal us in so many ways. This story had me smiling, getting angry and also in tears. I loved that it was told through the pov not only of Adam the corporate highflyer whose temper leads to the loss of his job and marriage, but also through the pov of Chance one of the goodest boys ever. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Elizabeth2 I loved this book! If you haven‘t already read it, I also highly recommend Susan Wilson‘s The Dog Who Saved Me. So so good! 3y

I really enjoyed this book! Adam March has made a big mistake. One that has cost him everything. In atoning for that mistake he gets a second chance. He grows, finds redemption and forgiveness, and the love of one good dog. That dog also has been given a second chance. Told in both Adam‘s and the dog‘s voices, this novel is moving. Tissues needed. Triggers - animal abuse/injured animals. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5

30 pages left to go in One Good Dog. Reading with a delicious summer ale and my constant companions, who switched it up tonight - Hazel on my lap and Hamilton stretched out beside me. I know he is much happier this way! I am enjoying this book! #dogsoflitsy #poodlesoflitsy #readingbuddies

Reading One Good Dog with my two good dogs. Snuggle time! Hamilton, the apricot/cream poodle, is not a snuggler. He‘s only on my lap because Hazel, the red/brown poodle (our puppy mill Mama) who is a snuggler, is next to me. Hamilton, while it‘s no question I‘m his person (he whines when I am out of sight), prefers to be near me but not touching, unless someone else is closer to me. 😂❤️🐶 #dogsoflitsy #poodlesoflitsy #puppymillsurvivor

In my favorite reading spot. I didn‘t get to enjoy it yesterday, because it was stormy. Hubby is enjoying a few of his Father‘s Day gifts at the moment (new pool cues and Bluetooth headphones), and giving me some “me time.” This is our first Father‘s Day without my Dad. I am missing him fiercely. We shared a love of reading and enjoyed passing books back and forth. ❤️💔

So....when adding the book “Two Good Dogs” to my #Bookly app, I realized the author had written a book called “One Good Dog.” Turns out the book I was going to read, was the second in a series. I get the feeling that they could be stand alone novels, but they both contain the same character, Adam March. So I‘m reading this one first. 🤷‍♀️❤️📚🐶

I took a picture of One Good Dog with three good dogs! They are all rescues but Captain Skippyjon Jones on the left is the only one from the animal #shelter.
If you love dogs you will probably love this book too. One of the characters has to volunteer at a homeless shelter. Lots of character development and pit bull love.

My entertainment for the work day - thankfully it didn't end the way I thought it would.

Suzze That's good. We all know how most pet books end. 😢 8y
