Tanner @Samplergal Thanks! We had a bit of a scare with him (he stopped eating) but he seems to be on the mend now. 5y

Grief-stricken and unemployed after his canine partner is killed in the line of duty, Boston K-9 unit officer Cooper Harrison returns to his hometown to work as an animal control officer. Cooper is determined not to become emotionally attached to another animal, but everything changes when he rescues a gun-shy yellow lab who has been shot and isn‘t too keen to trust another human. 🐶

This book drew me in right away. There's a backstory that's slowly released, that grabs the reader. What spoke to me & surprised me most was the way that over the course of the book I began rooting for characters that were not likable in the beginning. Just as the backstory is slowly released, so does the author slowly release the humanization of these characters. The last line made me sob. Excellent read.

Just started and it's grabbed me already with hints of the backstory. I want to find out what has led our main character, Cooper Harrison, here. I'm a sucker for books that require tissues.

reedster28 I'm only on page 143 and I'm going to read more before I get some sleep tonight 3y
