In her uplifting #graphicnovel memoir, animator & filmmaker Andrea Dorfman writes: “For years I pretended my big nose didn‘t bother me, but it did & I hated the way I looked.” When she falls in love with a plastic surgeon, his job really bugs her until she has an epiphany: since she was the person who had decided she was flawed, it was up to her to shift her point of view. This how she does it. #CanadianAuthor #picturebook for adults
This picture book for adults started out as a 12-minute film for the National Film Board of Canada. It‘s interesting to compare the different art style choices for the two, and the way the narrative progresses slightly differently. You can watch the film online: https://www.nfb.ca/film/flawed/
4:5⭐️Flawed is a picture book for adults about one woman coming to terms with herself. Looking at things in new ways because of her relationship with a plastic surgeon. Knowing that it‘s important how you see yourself and not how others see you is the main point of the book. Overall, it all works together wonderfully, for a short, and interesting read, and while geared for adults, I could see it being used in classrooms or after school groups.
