I like the detailed black and white illustrations this chapter book included, some were creepy

This mysterious book caught my eye by the tittle. I decided to pick it as one of the ten I skim through because the tittle intrigued me. As kids, you wonder if your toys come alive or not when you leave. Toy story kinda gives you this idea! So, I think kids would be intrigued by this too.

“'I think this doll is the one who was supposed to come with our family instead of Baby Betsy,' replied Annabelle. 'I think she's my lost little sister.'“

I would use this book in my classroom because it allows children to imagine things such as dolls that are alive. It allows creativity and imagination to flow. It's also appropriate for any age for children.

The Runaway Dolls written by Ann. M Martin, Laura Godwin, and Brian Selznick. Chapter 1 p. 1-21. Best friends, Annabelle Doll and Tiffany Funcraft are home alone for two weeks when their owners leave for vacation. This book brings dolls to life, therefore it classifies as a World of Toys and Dolls fantasy book. The plot is original and appropriate for children.

“They‘re both part of our family. We‘re all where we belong now. Tilly May is a doll and so is Baby Betsy, and they will be ours forever and ever, and we will be theirs.”

Just by reading a chapter of this book I fell in love! I wish I had time to read the whole thing! I loved how the illustrations were mixed into the chapters!

The Runaway Dolls by Laura Godwin is a piece of modern fantasy. It was written in 2008. This book is about two friends that are dolls who happen to get a package and find another doll inside. They recognize the doll, but don‘t know exactly what from so they decide to go in an adventure to find out. I decided to read the last chapter and learned that the mystery doll was a long lost family member and luckily she was returned home to her family.

“He sent the wrong baby, though, didn‘t he?” said Tiffany, who had heard this story before, but liked hearing it again.

“The wrong baby! No! exclaimed Annabelle, picturing her giant baby sister. “He didn‘t send the wrong baby. He sent a baby from a much bigger doll set, but we love her, and she‘s the right baby for us.”

I loved this story growing up and I didn‘t even remember it until I saw the cover in the center. It flooded me with memories of when I fell in love with reading and I hope I‘m able to pass that onto my students.

This cute tale is a modern fantasy story. This story is the adventure of Annabelle Doll and Tiffany Funcraft. They‘re completely different but are still best friends, Annabelle is older and more fragile and Tiffany is newer and flexible. This first chapter talks about how their human family is away and the dolls are out to play! I think this is a great classroom story and I would highly recommend!

Found The Runaway Dolls by Ann M Martin and Laura Godwin at a thrift store yesterday. I'm in love already. It's Toy Story meets a doll house, which makes sense since it's published by Disney Hyperion. #childrenliterature #annmmartin #lauragodwin #disneyhyperion
