Loose Ends: A Mary O'Reilly Paranormal Mystery - Book One
Loose Ends: A Mary O'Reilly Paranormal Mystery - Book One | Terri Reid

Dying is what changed Mary O'Reilly's life. Well, actually, coming back from the dead and having the ability to communicate with ghosts is really what did it. Now, a private investigator in rural Freeport, Illinois, Mary's trying to learn how to incorporate her experience as a Chicago cop and new-found talent into a real job. Her challenge is to solve the mysteries, get real evidence (a ghost's word just doesn't hold up in court), and be sure the folks in town, especially the handsome new police chief, doesn't think she's nuts. Twenty-four years ago, a young woman drowned in the swimming pool of a newly elected State Senator. It was ruled an accident. But now, as the Senator prepares to move on to higher positions, the ghost of the woman is appearing to the Senator's wife. Mary is hired to discover the truth behind the death. She unearths a connection between the murder and the disappearance of five little girls whose cases, twenty-four years later, are still all unsolved. As she digs further she becomes the next target for serial killer's quest to tie up all his loose ends.

Loved this book. It was a fast easy read. A fun paranormal romance set in a town I visit often. I like that Mary and Bradley are not from Freeport so they do not know all the small town history and gossip. One thing I will say is that Freeport is actually quite large and not as safe as this book makes it seem. The city is trying to bring back the safe small town feel, but right now I wouldn‘t go around alone at night.

So started reading this after meeting the author. She lives close to where I do and she is so sweet! She came to my library to tell ghost stories and man is she good!

Day6 #MayBookFlowers #supernaturalmystery The Mary O'Reilly Paranormal Mysteries are fast #palatecleanser reads for me. It's an e-book cozy mystery series where the MC is a former cop, now PI who sees ghosts & uses them to solve mysteries &/or solves their mysteries so they can cross over. It's actually more folksy-cozy than scary but they're fun with likable characters (& free on Kindle Unlimited). I've read all 19 books (1st & 19th are shown)👻

Lmstraubie This is a fantastic picture! 8y
DebinHawaii @Lmstraubie Thank you! I think it's probably much spookier than the books! 😆😱👻 8y

I usually don't read books with ghosts and scary things - they're just not my thing. This was free so I thought I'd try it. It's a cozy mystery with a paranormal twist. I liked it and would read the rest in the series.
